    2. Lubbock Christian : Continuing a strong season at Lubbock Christian that saw the Lady Eagles win a basketball state title, the baseball team also picked up a TAPPS state championship. 3. Coronado : The Mustangs had an extremely strong lineup with several collegiate players, but were bounced from the playoffs after losing to Abilene in the area round.

    Hurdler Grimes earns Gatorade accolades

    Grimes, a senior-to-be at Canyon High School, secured another award as he was recently named the 2014-15 Gatorade Texas Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year. In its 30th year of honoring the nation's best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, announced Grimes as the first boy from Canyon High to be selected with the elite honor.
