    Naperville Central rallies to defeat Lake Park

    The Redhawks trailed 2-0 before scoring all their runs in the final four innings of the DuPage Valley Conference matchup. Connor Gurnik and Billy Oliver each had 2 RBI.

    Leckinger homers in Metea Valley win

    Kara Leckinger hit a home run and drove in 4 runs and pitcher Megan Arcivar earned her first win of the season in Metea Valley's 5-0 softball victory over South Elgin. Batting third for the Mustangs, Leckinger went 2-for-3 and also scored a run to lift Metea Valley to 8-10 and 6-5 in the Upstate Eight Conference.

    Cook hit makes Lake Park jump around

    Lake Park junior pitcher Connor Cook wanted his first DuPage Valley Conference baseball victory against first-place Glenbard North Monday after receiving a 5-run lead in the first inning. Cook's two-out single in the bottom of the ninth scored Brody Thompson to give the Lancers a 7-6 victory in Roselle after the Panthers forced extra innings at 5-5 with a two-out run in the seventh.

    West Aurora tops Waubonsie

    West Aurora's softball team scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th inning to snap a pitchers' duel and beat Waubonsie Valley 2-0. Both winning pitcher Hannah Beatus and Waubonsie Valley's Shannon Hohman pitched all 10 innings of the Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division game at Waubonsie.

    As Lake Park boys track coach Jay Ivory wrote in his weekly newsletter, things are looking up for the Lancers. Discus thrower Mike Prestigiacomo had people looking up and far away Saturday at Downers Grove South's Bud Mohns Invitational.
