After playing 100 minutes of scoreless soccer followed by a round of penalty kicks, Meade's boys soccer team advanced to the state final for just the second time in school history when Sammy Dupuy converted a penalty kick followed by a miss from Montgomery Blair in Saturday's Class 4A state semifinal at Richard Montgomery High in Rockville. The win was the ninth this season by one goal for the Mustangs, who last played in a state final in 1978. Comment?

Regardless of when it ends, this will go down as the best season in the history of Meade boys soccer. The Mustangs will have one more game to provide the perfect ending to the season after defeating Montgomery Blair, 1-0, in penalty kicks Saturday in a Class 4A state semifinal at Richard Montgomery High School. The Dulaney High field hockey team dedicated its season to Washington College sophomore and former Dulaney player Liza Slavin, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year. That's a big reason why the Lions are so disappointed by falling short of reaching the state championship after bowing to Wootton, 1-0, on senior midfielder Marisa Morakis' goal Monday night at Broadneck in a Class 4A state semifinal. The Severna Park field hockey team has established itself as the most dominant in the state over the past several decades, making 31 appearances in the state tournament while winning 22 titles, including the last two seasons. This season hadn't been the usual fairy-tale ride as the Falcons struggled early to find their identity and at one point were an even 6-6-1. Comment?
