    Oak Creek tennis team wins South Milwaukee Invite

    Last year, with a rain-date scheduling conflict forcing them to withdraw after completing only part of the tournament, the Oak Creek girls tennis team didn't know whether it could win the 16-school South Milwaukee/Oak Creek Dual Meet Invite. This year, the Knights were able to stick around for the entirety of the event and prove their mettle, winning four matches and claiming the championship in the two-day meet held Aug. 19 and 20. "We had to go to Madison last year; we had another commitment," said veteran coach Don Tellefsen.

    Franklin football team emphatic in 37-0 rout of area...

    Friends and neighbors, rivals and competitors, the players who took part in the powerhouse rivalry between the Franklin and and Greendale football teams the last three years will be rehashing and embellishing the highs and lows of these contests for decades to come at picnics, taverns and family reunions. Only the 28 seniors on this year's Franklin group will have an emphatic last word at all those gatherings, as the Sabers ended a two-game skid against the Panthers Thursday night with an impressive 37-0 rout of their hosts.

    Strong start at QB for Ryan Nehls

    The junior completed 6 of 11 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 42 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Lightning to a 21-0 victory over Racine St. Catherine's Saturday at Horlick Field in Racine. Nehls scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and a 6-yard scamper in the third quarter before throwing a 30-yard touchdown to Brady Kerwin later in the third.

    volleyball team opens season with win over Nicolet

    After winning the school's first state girls volleyball title in 2013, Menomonee Falls slid under the radar last season following big graduation losses. Now working with what he calls "his deepest squad ever", Indian coach J.C. Bruns said he likes the idea of his Indians laying low and out of sight for the time being in 2015 too as they prepare to make a run back towards elite status.

    700 lose power in Fox Point, Glendale

    About 700 customers in the Fox Point and Glendale areas lost electricity Friday morning as officials received reports of a tree limb falling on a power line. The power failure was reported about 10 a.m., We Energies spokesman Brian Manthey said.
