    Raiders roll on road

    The AFC girls basketball team closed out the regular season perfect in NUIC East play, defeating Pecatonica 47-32 on the road Friday night. The Raiders led 32-23 by halftime, then held on for an NUIC East win after a low-scoring second half.

    Hall, St. Bede girls finish out with wins

    The Hall Lady Devils and St. Bede Lady Bruins finished off the regular season with wins in Three Rivers Conference play Thursday, Feb. 4. Hall 54, Prophetstown 39: The Lady Devils got things going in the second quarter Thursday, outscoring the Prophets 21-7 to take a 32-13 lead. The girls came out and played very well especially with Prophetstown coming off a big win vs. St. Bede,” Hall coach Brian Hollman said.

    Oregon co-op senior bowler earns place in top 20

    Oregon co-op bowler Derek Poole opened Saturday's finals of the state bowling tournament at St. Clair Bowl in O'Fallon with strong series, and went on to finish 16th. Poole started off with a 747 three-game series – a total only three bowlers topped – then finished his final three games with a 614 series to earn 2,711 total pins.

    MVP Smith leads Faith Christian in Galesburg

    Sarah Smith tossed in 28 points to lead the Faith Christian girls basketball team to a 45-22 victory over Fulton Unity in Saturday's championship game of the Northern Illinois Christian Conference tournament in Galesburg. Also for the Falcons , Shauni Warner had eight blocks and five points, and Gabby Rydzynski finished with 15 rebounds, six points and three blocked shots.

    Storma s rally comes up short

    After Bureau Valley rallied from a 14-point deficit to take a three-point lead in the fourth quarter, Hufman drained back-to-back 3-pointers from the left baseline to give the Prophets the lead for good, lifting them to a 69-60 win at the Storm Cellar Tuesday, Jan. 26. The Storm had all the momentum on their side early in the fourth quarter after freshman Kale Barnett hit a 3-pointer in front of the BV student section to give them their first lead since Nate Paup scored the first basket of the game. Spencer Marquez then added a score inside to put the Storm up 53-50 with 6:43 left.

    Prophets pull away for win in Manlius

    The Prophetstown boys basketball team scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, and pulled away to beat Bureau Valley 69-60 on Tuesday in a Three Rivers game in Manlius. The Prophets jumped out to a 34-22 lead at halftime before the Storm rallied in the third to tie the game at 48-48.

    Doege lifts Amboy over Fulton

    Karlee Doege tossed in 17 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and had three assists to lead the Amboy girls basketball team to a 39-23 victory at Fulton on Monday night. The Clippers led just 19-14 entering the final quarter before putting it away.

    Girls roundup: Clippers pull away from Prophets

    A big third quarter lifted the Amboy girls basketball team to a 53-42 victory against visiting Prophetstown on Saturday night. The teams were tied 24-24 at the midway point before the Clippers went on a 19-5 run.
