    Powhatan's Conner reaches 500 win milestone

    That's exactly what Powhatan's baseball team, headed up by coach Gregg Conner, did on May 11 as the Indians came from behind and defeated Louisa 12-2. "We just battled and battled," Conner said of the win over the Lions.

    Gupton honored, Knights defeat Kavaliers

    It was Senior Night for Chris Gupton, the lone senior on the Blessed Sacrament Huguenot baseball team and his teammates made him a promise before the game against Kenston Forest on May 2. His teammates delivered on their promise in the 9-8 win over the Kavaliers, with Gupton playing a large role as he scored three runs, including the eventual game-winning run. In the bottom of the first, Gupton got the Knights on the board first after he led the inning off with a single, stole second base, and then was knocked in on a single by Noa Hasty.

    BSH offense, Hasty's no-hitter lead Knights

    Blessed Sacrament Huguenot's Tyler Hall makes contact with a pitch during the Knights 11-1 win over Blue Ridge Christian on April 20 at Blessed Sacrament Huguenot. Hall knocked in the eventual game-ending run with a two-run single.

    Powhatan's Madeline Peloke went 3 for 3 with two runs and 5 RBIs in the 18-0 win over Charlottesville. Blessed Sacrament Huguenot's Chris Gupton scored the game-ending run in the Knights 12-2 win over Amelia Academy.

    Eight Powhatan athletes sign to play in college

    L to R: Powhatan's Trenton Tiller, Tommy Preston, Brooke Dippold, Gatlin Snyder and Nick Rini all signed to play in college on April 11. Powhatan's Gabe Satterwhite, Ben Nowacki and Noah Dowdy, joined by Mike Mangiaracina and head coach Jim Woodson, signed their National Letters of Intent on April 9. Old Dominion plays in the Football Championship Series of Division-I NCAA football and is one of the newest programs in the state. The Monarchs began playing football in 2007 and are members of Conference USA.

    Seniors leading Powhatan softball into 2018

    While the conditions of the first two scrimmages for the Powhatan softball team certainly weren't what anyone would call ideal for a spring sport, the Indians got to work in their warm-ups for the 2018 season. The two-time defending region champion Indians took to the field against Cosby on March 5 and Thomas Dale on March 8. "I felt like we improved from our first scrimmage," she said.
