    Marauders fend off Spartans

    In seemingly one fell swoop, Christian Mattox quieted an Alexander rally - and the host Meigs Marauders marched to the beat of the free-throw line drum. As a result, the Marauders crafted a key Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division boys basketball victory on Friday night, fending off the hard-charging Spartans 63-55 inside a packed and pumped Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium.

    Lady Marauders rally past Rockets

    Thanks to its pressure defense taking full advantage of Wellston turnover after Wellston turnover, Meigs rallied from a surprising double-digit deficit to defeat the Golden Rockets 49-40 inside Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium. With the win, the Lady Marauders moved to 9-11 - and concluded Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division play at 4-8.

    Bulldogs slip past Meigs, 68-65

    The Athens Bulldogs boys basketball team - which was without the services of usual starters Griffin Lutz and Robert Dickelman due to injuries - pulled off a 68-65 upset victory over Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division guest Meigs, on Saturday evening in McAfee Gymnasium. The Marauders led 18-to-11 after the opening stanza, but the advantage was trimmed to one point, 31-30, by halftime.

    Lady Bulldogs hold off Meigs, 39-32

    The Meigs girls basketball team shot under 25 percent from both the field and the charity stripe Thursday night, as the Lady Marauders dropped a 39-32 decision to Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division host Athens, in McAfee Gymnasium. The host Lady Bulldogs - who have now won four straight games after a 1-12 start to the season - led 12-7 at the conclusion of the first period and pushed the lead to 30-19 by halftime.

    Marauders edge Golden Rockets, 80-76

    And, all of the sudden, the Meigs Marauders are right back in the Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division boys basketball race. First off, bolstered by a 16-of-31 free-throw performance, the Marauders slipped past the visiting Wellston Golden Rockets 80-76 inside Larry R. Morrison Gymnasium.

    Vikings pull away from Meigs

    For a while anyway on Monday night, the Meigs Lady Marauders made it difficult on the Vinton County Lady Vikings. The six-foot senior standout Hale poured in 24 points, and wreaked havoc for the Marauders on the defensive end, in leading the Lady Vikings to a 52-36 Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division girls basketball win at Vinton County High School.
