    Pirates power past Princeton at Prouty, 67-36

    The Ottawa Pirates were hitting on all cylinders as they began their nonconference boys basketball matchup with Princeton on Tuesday night. The player that had the Crimson and Red engine purring like a kitten was 6-1 junior guard Myles Tucker, who had all 16 points in a 16-5 Ottawa run in the first 3:53 of the opening quarter.

    Momentum change carries Cru past Somonauk

    No matter how well you play for a quarter, either to break out to a big lead or to come back from that same kind of deficit to take a short lead of your own, the game doesn't end there. Neither case matters one bit unless one team decides to do what needs to be done to finish.

    Cold-shooting Lady Cru rely on defense to trip Henry

    It was almost as if the Marquette Lady Crusaders were messing around on the offensive end to see how poorly they could shoot and still have a lead on Tri-County Conference rival Henry-Senachwine here in Bader Gym on Thursday night. The Lady Cru shot a miserable 3-of-16 in the first quarter and were just 7-of-31 from the floor in the first half as they hung on to a meek 25-19 lead.

    Basketball, especially in just the second game of the season, is supposed to be a lot harder work than the Marquette Crusaders showed it was here at Bader Gym on Friday night. For them, it sure seemed like a lot of fun.
