    After his team weathered a week of shock, sacrifice, adulation and attention, Oak Harbor High School football coach Jay Turner didn't know what to expect when his Wildcats took on Mountlake Terrace Friday night. The win earned the Wildcats the third seed out of the Wesco 3A North.

    The surprise wasn't so much that the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team defeated first-place Shorewood on the Thunderbirds' floor Wednesday, Oct. 29, but that the Wildcats did it with a 3-0 shutout. The win in the regular season's final game lifted Oak Harbor into a three-way tie for second place with Arlington and Edmonds-Woodway , one game back of Shorewood .

    Clinching a spot in the district tournament, the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team tripped up visiting Mountlake Terrace 3-1 Monday, Oct. 27. The Wildcats , who won 25-12, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15, are tied with Arlington for third place in the Wesco 3A standings but hold just a one-match advantage in the loss column over the seventh-place team. Eighth-place Glacier Peak is two games back of Oak Harbor with only one left.

    The Marysville-Pilchuck High School football team is expected to practice at the Seahawks' training facility Tuesday after accepting an invitation from Seattle coach Pete Carroll. Carroll reached out to the football teams from both Marysville-Pilchuck and Oak Harbor after the deadly shooting Friday at Marysville-Pilchuck.

    Marysville-Pilchuck was back on the practice field Oct. 27. It was the first time they could practice at Quil Ceda Stadium since a shooting at the school Oct. 24. Three students were killed and three more were critically wounded. M-P was supposed to play at Oak Harbor that Friday night for the North league championship.

    Marysville will take a giant step to normalcy this Friday, when both the Marysville Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell football teams play Wesco 3A crossover games in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. at Quil Ceda Stadium. Marysville School District athletic director Greg Erickson confirmed in an email that the Chargers will face Lynnwood at 5 p.m. before the Tomahawks take on Meadowdale in the Wesco 3A championship at 8 p.m. 'I think we need to get back to it,' said Marysville Pilchuck head coach Brandon Carson.

    Seniors lead Wildcats by Getchell | Volleyball

    The Oak Harbor High School volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with an easy 3-0 win over visiting Marysville Getchell Tuesday, Oct. 21. Oak Harbor coach Kerri Molitor started an all-senior group along with junior Claire Anderson, and the make-shift lineup rolled by the Chargers in the first two games 25-14, 25-14. In the third game, Molitor turned the match over to the underclassmen, and the unit also had little trouble with Getchell , winning 25-13.
