    The Patriots marched down the field and scored on the opening drive, but they took control of the game on their second drive. On fourth-and-2 from St. Augustine 45, Curtis faked the punt, and Donald Clay took the direct snap two yards to continue the drive.

    Holy Cross and Brother Martin at Tad Gormley Stadium...

    Despite missed opportunities early on in a Catholic League battle, Holy Cross converted an 80-yard touchdown and let their defense do the rest in a 7-3 victory over Brother Martin on Friday night at Tad Gormley Stadium. The Tigers were as dominant up front as they had been in their first four wins of the season and overcame some injuries on the defensive line to get back into form.

    Karr 26, Belle Chasse 7: Cougars 'sloppy' in hard-fo...

    Belle Chasse, heavy underdogs coming in, started out with a methodical bang--with a 10-play, 69-yard touchdown drive that ended with a fourth-down 30-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Mariana to Ratray Gaines. The strike gave Cardinals a surprising 7-0 lead early and set the the tone for the rest of the first half.

    Karr scored its first points after a Kennedy miscue. With 10:32 left in the first quarter, a bad snap to Kennedy punter Aaron Delgado put Karr at the 16 to begin its first drive.

    Karr made quick work of the Carver defense to start the game, going on a four-play, 64-yard drive. Cougars quarterback Leonard Kelly fired a pass over the middle to Khalfani Simmons , who changed direction to catch the pass.

    On the Cougars' opening possession, quarterback Leonard Kelly faced third-and-10 from the Cavaliers' 23. The junior, known for his exceptional arm far more than his feet, avoided two sack attempts and showed his quickness, gaining 23 yards on the play. Two plays later Ahmad Antoine powered his way into the end zone, breaking two tackles at the goal line for the eventual 7-0 lead.

    Newman's offense struck for its first big play of the game on its second drive when Martin Butcher hit Murray Calhoun on a post pattern for a 38-yard gain down to the 1-yard line. Butcher powered it in on a quarterback sneak on the following play for a 7-0 lead with 3:54 left in the opening period.
