    Sewanee Defeats Covenant, 62-60

    The Covenant men's basketball team erased a nine-point deficit in the final two minutes of play, but Sewanee's Clay Born made a jumper with 2.6 seconds left to give the host Tigers a 62-60 win against the Scots on Tuesday night inside Juhan Gymnasium.

    Hoops: Franklin teams sweep FRA to close Thanksgivin...

    The Franklin Thanksgiving Classic wrapped up Tuesday at Franklin High School with the Rebels' basketball teams picking up wins against Franklin Road Academy. Centennial's scheduled games earlier Tuesday against Columbia were cancelled due to the death of Cougar student-athlete Jim Cheek .

    Mt. Juliet rolled to a 66-33 thumping of Independence in the Lady Bears' home opener Monday night. The Lady Bears, coming off a split of a Saturday TSSAA Hall of Champions double header at East Nashville, led 14-7 following the first quarter and 35-14 at halftime as they improved to 2-1.

    Franklin had no trouble with Columbia while Centennial struggled with FRA on the opening day of the Franklin Classic Monday on the Rebels home floor. Reese Glover poured in 26 points and Evan Sigler added 19 as Franklin rolled past a confused Columbia squad 71-45 in the nightcap of the Franklin Classic Monday.
