    Hendersonville runs past Siegel 35-15

    Self-inflicted wounds and a punishing Hendersonville ground attack were a bad recipe for Siegel in its home opener on Friday night. The Stars had one touchdown called back and another big play to the Hendersonville 5-yard line nullified in the first half, which helped allow the Commandoes to storm to a 35-15 victory at Ken Nolan Stadium.

    Prep Roundup: Blackman tops McCallie in thriller

    The Blackman Blaze edged McCallie 44-42 in a game that went down to the wire on Friday night at the Inferno. It was an up-and-down game for the Blaze and the Blue Tornado, but in the end, it was the leg of Thomas Burks, who kicked a 29-yard field on the game's final play, that won Blackman its first game of the season.

    Having been out of the prognostication game for a couple of years, I expected some struggles last week. However, didn't figure to go a mere .500.

    Hard to gauge area prep teams after first week

    Coming out of Week 1 of the high school football season, there are probably more questions than answers regarding Rutherford County teams. Rutherford County went a combined 4-5 in Week 1, so it wasn't the best of beginnings for local football.

    Prep roundup: Stewarts Creek beats Overton in opener

    The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks won their home and season opener last Friday night with 16-8 victory over John Overton. Up only 3-0 at halftime, the Red Hawks' Cynterius Lyons ran the second half opening kickoff to the Bobcat 20. That play set up a quarterback keeper by senior Chris Dye with 9:55 left in the third to extend the lead to 9-0.

    Clay-Chalkville races past Blackman in Middle Tennes...

    CLay-Chalkville, Alabama, more than lived up to its billing against Blackman in the first game of the Middle Tennessee Football Classic at MTSU's Floyd Stadium. The Cougars, the defending Alabama 6A champion put on offensive display from the outset, scoring on their first three possession en route to a 38-7 rout of the Blaze.
