Wilsonville kept pace just behind Liberty in the Northwest Oregon Conference with a commanding win over Putnam, their second such victory over the Kingsmen this season. Grant kept their perfect PIL record alive with a 59-46 win over the young and talented Benson Techmen. Comment?

The Hillsboro girls basketball team found itself trailing 21-14 early in the second half of an important Northwest Oregon Conference game against Putnam on Tuesday. But the Spartans buckled down from there, playing tenacious defense and outscoring the visiting Kingsmen 21-9 the rest of the way - including 12-4 in the final quarter - in a 35-30 victory. Comment?

The Liberty boys swim team handily dispatched visiting Wilsonville, 113-55, on Tuesday afternoon at Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center to move to a perfect 6-0 this winter. That means a third consecutive Northwest Oregon Conference duals title is still on the table. Comment?

Northwest Oregon Conference boys basketball continued a dogfight last week, with top-ranked Wilsonville and fifth-ranked Liberty battling for the top spot, and ninth-ranked Parkrose , tenth-ranked Putnam , twelfth-ranked Milwaukie and thirteenth-ranked La Salle in a heated battle for third place. Most of the league's top teams were scheduled to conclude the first of two rounds of league play on Tuesday, Jan. 26 - with Wilsonville at Parkrose, Milwaukie at Liberty, and La Salle hosting Sandy .
