    Monday's Hillsborough County cross country meet at Al Lopez Park saw some of the fastest times of the season - with a dose of controversy. The meet was originally set to take place at Lake Park in Lutz, then at Ed Radice Park, only to settle on Lopez just a couple of weeks before the race.

    It's do or die for Steinbrenner, and a win against the second-place district team, Wiregrass Ranch, was all the Warriors needed to come one step closer to reaching the playoffs, something that has been difficult for this Warriors squad. But as coach Andres Perez-Reinaldo expressed, their destiny is in their hands after Friday's lengthy 55-40 win.

    Steinbrenner 55, Wire. Ranch 40

    Steinbrenner nearly gave up an early 21-point lead, but used timely defense and 494 yards of offense in a Class 7A-District 7 victory over Wiregrass Ranch. The Warriors jumped to a 21-0 lead less than three minutes in.

    Calvary Christian's Josh Hancock took a day off from hitting running backs and receivers and spent Tuesday hitting golf balls instead. Hancock, a linebacker for the Warriors' football team, shot 79 at the Eagles Golf Course and won a one-hole playoff to earn individual medalist honors at the Class A, District 13 tournament.
