Los Gatos jumps into girls basketball race with two-...

It was a collective sigh that sounded very much like, "Well, that's more like it," coming from Los Gatos girls basketball coach Sami Field-Polisso and her Wildcats last week. It wasn't easy, but the Cats put together back-to-back wins over Saratoga and Los Altos--both by just three points--to help them drive over the .500 mark in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.

It wasn't exactly the way that head coach Sami Field-Polisso and her Los Gatos girls basketball team had hoped--or even expected--to open the league season, but after two games in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League the Wildcats were 0-2. Following a tough one-point loss to Mountain View, 39-38, to open the league campaign, the Cats lost another heartbreaker, falling by two to Gunn, 39-37.

Los Gatos: Four pins not enough for Wildcats

Four of a kind may beat just about anything in poker, but it's a different story on the high school wrestling mat.
