    Porter: UA visit an eye-opener

    One of Arkansas' top remaining targets, running back Kyle Porter, made an official visit to Fayetteville over the weekend and was taken aback by what he saw. "It was great," said Porter, whose godmother lives in Bentonville.

    NLR bounces back to drop Marion

    Senior forward Morris Talbert scored 19 points and the Charging Wildcats rebounded from Friday's loss at Little Rock Central by downing Marion 58-54 in a 7A/6A-East Conference game. North Little Rock forced three Marion turnovers in the game's final minute to hang on for the victory.

    Hannahs runs hot, then cold

    Dusty Hannahs put the hurt on his former school, ripping Texas Tech for 25 points in Arkansas' 75-68 victory Saturday. Hannahs did most of his damage in the first half, when he made 7 of 10 shots, including 3 of 4 from three-point range, and scored 21 points.

    Cats dominate Airedales

    The Conway Wampus Cats found no trouble from 6A Central opponents, the Alma Airedales, Friday night at Buzz Bolding Arena. The Lady Cats improved to 20-1 and 7-0 in 7A/6A Central competition with the last half of conference play coming up.

    5-year obstacle course

    More than five years after Aaron Ross signed a national letter of intent with Arkansas' basketball team, he finally will play a game in Walton Arena. "I always wanted to play in that arena as a Razorback," Ross said.

    Marion senior guard A.J. Latham scored a game-high 31 points, and the Patriots defeated Little Rock Central 71-69 in a 7A/6A-East game Tuesday night at Central. Latham made 5 of 7 free throws in the game's final 48.7 seconds to help his team hold off the Tigers .

    LR Parkview's defense appeases coach

    Little Rock Parkview's Al Flanigan says his team is not playing its best basketball at the moment, but even the veteran coach admits opposing teams are having a hard time scoring against the Patriots. Junior forward Javon Franklin scored 16 points and sophomore guard Rod Terry hit two three-pointers in the opening minutes to propel the Patriots to a 60-30 victory over Sheridan in a 6A-South game at Ripley Arena.

    LR Fair's spurt enough for easy victory

    The War Eagles had enough to topple Little Rock McClellan 57-35 on the Crimson Lions' home court Tuesday. Leading 28-18 at the break, the War Eagles made eight consecutive field goals in the first 5A1 2 minutes of the second half and were 2 of 2 from the free-throw line to expand their lead to 44-21.
