    Two Big Reds Make First Team

    Winfield kept its girls soccer dynasty rolling in the 2015 Class AAA ranks, capturing a fourth straight state tournament title with a 3-1 win over Parkersburg. But neither of those teams had the most representatives on the West Virginia Sports Writers Association Class AAA girls soccer all-state first team.

    Bulldogs' Dove hawks Greenbrier East

    The Martinsburg junior running back rushed for 183 yards - all in the second half - with a pair of touchdowns, including a 95-yard backbreaker in the third quarter, as the Bulldogs spoiled Greenbrier East's return to the Class AAA football playoffs with 47-28 victory at Coburn Field. Martinsburg Ky-Juan Lewis returns an interception for positive yards before getting tackled by Aaron Davis Jonathan Carr and Chris Delaney during the second quarter.

    PHS girls defeat Greenbrier East, 1-0

    Greenbrier East hoped Parkersburg would look past their semifinal to a potential Class AAA state girls soccer championship matchup with Winfield. Parkersburg's defense, arguably the state's best, lived up to its reputation with a 1-0 victory over the Spartans Friday night at Paul Cline Stadium in Beckley.

    PHS girls soccer ready to shine

    The Parkersburg High School girls soccer team looks to clear the penultimate hurdle in their path to a championship today in their Class AAA state semifinal against Greenbrier East in Beckley. The 18-2-2 Big Reds, who are riding a 10-match winning streak will attempt to reach the final against a team they have not yet played this year.
