    2015 high school football Super Bowl matchups set

    After a weekend of semifinal games across the state, 12 teams advanced to the six MIAA Super Bowls, which will be held at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 5. Times are to be determined. Briefly: The Division 1 defending champion Hawks will try to win their 23d straight game - barring a loss to St. John's Prep on Thanksgiving - and finish undefeated for the second straight season.

    Central Catholic may lose football starters to alcoh...

    Central Catholic High School may be playing without a full lineup when the Raiders take on Lawrence High on Thanksgiving and Xaverian in the Dec. 5 Division 1 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium. The school would not say whether any football players were involved.

    Locals garner MVC girls soccer honors

    Billerica High senior goaltender Megan Brunelle was selected as the Merrimack Valley Conference Division 2 girls soccer Player of the Year for her performance this season in the Indians' net. Dracut's Dennis Goodine earned Division 2 Coach of the Year honors while Central Catholic dominated the other awards, including D1 Coach of the Year Casey Grange, Player of the Year Elayna Grillakis and Goalie of the Year Amanda Fay.

    NDA, Shawsheen advance in MIAA volleyball tourney

    Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Kirkland had 12 kills, 19 digs and 1 ace while leading the Academy of Notre Dame past Winthrop, 3-1, in a Division 3 North Sectional girls volleyball quarterfinal match. Fiona Martin had a strong all-around match, notching 10 kills, 16 digs, 2 aces and 2 assists, while helping the Lancers outlast Winthrop, 24-26, 25-21, 27-25, 31-29.
