    Campolindo High football team wins state title with ...

    Campolindo High's football team claimed its first state championship in program history, using an incredible late comeback to beat El Capitan-Lakeside 35-28 in the California Interscholastic Federation Division III final. The Cougars, pictured above with the trophy, trailed 28-7 late in the third quarter before stunning El Captian with 28 straight points in the Dec. 20 game at Carson's StubHub Center.

    Campolindo-Moraga co-captain Adam Remotto had no words for it. With the score tied and about a minute to go in the state championship game Saturday, there the ball lay on the StubHub Center turf with 85 yards of clear sailing in front of him.

    Adam Remotto's 85-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown in the final minute lifted Campolindo High's football team to the California Interscholastic Federation Division III state championship. The Cougars became the second team from the North Coast Section to capture a state title with their 35-28 comeback win over El Capitan on Saturday at StubHub Center in Carson.

    Mariner teammates Brandon Pierce and Kordell Wilson celebrate Aptos' touchdown in the third quarter in the Mariners' CCS Division III championship victory over St. Ignatius Saturday night in Campbell. Repeating as Central Coast Section Division III champion wasn't enough to catapult Aptos High over North Section champion Sutter and into a CIF Regional Football Championship Bowl Game, CIF executive director Roger L. Blake announced Sunday after a selection committee selected 18 teams state-wide to continue their seasons.
