    University's meet victory was already secure last week when another challenge surfaced in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Trojans' top-ranked boys swim team responded the only way it knew.

    Beckman stuns Irvine, 3-0

    Northwood scored five runs in the sixth inning and went on to defeat Woodbridge, 8-1, in a PCL game at Deanna Manning Stadium Tuesday night. Northwood was led offensively by Kaitlyn Lologo who was 2 for 3 with three runs scored and a walk and Emily Bland who was 3 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.

    University High knocks off league leader Beckman, 2-0

    University High School's baseball team knocked off Pacific Coast League leader Beckman for the second time this year, defeating the Patriots 2-0 Tuesday at Beckman behind a complete-game performance from Eric Brunst. It was the second complete game of the year for Brunst, both shutouts.

    Woodbridge boys and Northwood girls continue winning...

    The Pacific Coast League track and field showdown between Woodbridge and Northwood last week at University High went pretty much as expected. The Woodbridge boys team, also the defending champ and top-ranked team in Orange County the past three weeks, had too much for the Timberwolves in an 89-33 victory.

    Vaqueros take a step back

    Going into the start of the Pacific Coast League softball season, it was the general consensus that Irvine High was the team to beat. The Vaqueros may still be that team.

    Irvine swimmers drop pair to county powerhouses

    The Vaqueros were competitive, but dropped contests last week to two of the top-ranked teams in Orange County, Corona del Mar and Northwood. Many would consider the PCL the toughest league in boys swimming league not only in Orange County, but in CIF-Southern Section Division 1. The top-three ranked teams in the county are University, Corona del Mar and Northwood.

    Glendale Community College off to SoCal finals

    Throughout the bulk of the season, the Glendale Community College women's tennis team has been steady with its singles lineup. It helped play a large role in the Vaqueros winning the Western State Conference for the first time in the program's history.

    Baseball heads to Malibu to face Waves

    The USC baseball team will look to rebound tonight against the Pepperdine University Waves after losing two out of three to the UCLA Bruins in a hard-fought series over the weekend. Dedeaux Field was packed all weekend, as Los Angeles was buzzing about the matchup between the crosstown rivals, both ranked in the top-10 in the nation.
