    Boys tournament pairings set

    Three hundred ninety-eight teams were drawn today and placed into brackets for the 107th Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament presented by the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever. Sectional games are scheduled to begin Tuesday, February 28, and run through Saturday, March 4, with the regional round slated for March 11 and semi-states on March 18. The four state championship games that make up the state finals will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday, March 25. Fort Wayne North Side is this week's top-ranked team in both the Associated Press Class 4A poll and the single class poll from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

    North seniors led title chase

    There were games earlier in the season when the Columbus North girls basketball team fell behind by eight or 10 points and folded. North showed a great sense of maturity in its ability to rally from seven-point first-half deficits to beat Evansville Central and Bedford North Lawrence in the regional.

    Red Devils go from missing postseason to semistate

    The Pike team that Columbus North will face in the girls basketball semistate didn't even play in the sectional last year. The Red Devils' on-court fight with Ben Davis late in the regular season led the IHSAA to cancel the seasons of both teams.

    Warriors suffer narrow home defeat

    The Whiteland boys basketball team saw a six-point lead evaporate quickly in the final two minutes against Decatur Central. Khiree Williams had a lot to do with that, hitting two 3-pointers in the final 75 seconds to lift the Hawks to a 62-59 victory against the host Warriors in Mid-State Conference action Friday night.

    The Brownsburg Bulldogs held one of the state's top scorers, Manual senior Courvoisier McCauley, to 19 points, and held his Redskins to a season-low 46 points. Brownsburg beat Manual 63-46 Friday behind a game-high 20 points from sophomore Cameron Alford.
