Aurora Central Catholic's wrestling team will see more action as a team this season after winning its own Class 1A regional championship Saturday. Taking second place for the Chargers and advancing to the Princeton sectional were Antonio Cepeda , Mike Schmidt , Kyle Hammond , Ruben Franco and Chris Gamboa , while advancing as third place finishers were Keegan Donnelly , Michael Jasin and TJ Colon . After allowing Crystal Lake South 18 points in the first quarter, Huntley coach Steve Raethz realized his Red Raiders would have to play better defense in the final 3 quarters. Holding South to only 13 points and 3 baskets in the last 3 quarters, Huntley's defensive effort was enough to produce a 45-31 win in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division action in Huntley Wednesday night. After going scoreless in the first half, Krutwig scored all 20 of his points during the final 16 minutes of the game to lead the Golden Eagles to a 52-44 win over visiting Huntley in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division boys basketball action in Algonquin Tuesday night. Krutwig, who connected on 9-of-10 shots from the floor in the second half, also finished the game with 17 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and 4 assists. Comment?

Burlington Central 79, Genoa-Kingston 41: Sam Pryor scored a game-high 23 points on six 3-pointers while Shelby Holt added 19 points on 4 from deep to ease the Rockets to a Big Northern East victory. Kayla Ross also added 12 points as the Rockets won their 47th straight conference game. Comment?

The Red Raiders nailed nine 3-pointers and had better than a 2-1 edge on the backboards while defeating Dundee-Crown, 55-37, in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division boys basketball action in Carpentersville Friday night. Mathew Seng and Makomborero Tizora each had three 3-pointers and 13 points as Huntley snapped an 8-game losing streak. Comment?
