    Spring Mills picked up its defensive intensity in the final quarter to turn a close girls basketball game into a 39-30 victory over Washington for the Cardinals. Spring Mills held leads of 16-15 at halftime and 26-24 through three quarters in the Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference matchup.

    Hedgesville girls top Mtn. View

    The Hedgesville girls basketball team picked up its third win of the season with a 53-30 win over Mountain View Christian, Virginia, on Monday. Emily Bethel paced the Eagles with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Taylor Silkworth and Trinity Cole each added eight.

    Yurish to coach Hedgesville football

    The Hedgesville football program will have a new face at the helm this season, but one that's pretty familiar to the sport around the area. Joey Yurish was named the head football coach, replacing Aaron Fiddler, who left to take a job coaching professional football in Sweden.

    Hedgesville bounces Washington

    Despite a range of inconsistency that included the energy of the players, communication and calls from the officials, the Eagles-Patriots game was one not to be missed as Hedgesville won 59-39 in an Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference meeting. "One of the biggest things that we stress to the kids is that we don't want to hear excuses," Hedgesville coach Kelly Church said.

    Villa helps Bulldogs continue win streak

    Jessiya Villa played the role of Superman during a pair of games for the Martinsburg boys basketball team last week. As the Bulldogs finished 2-0 and ran their winning streak to nine games, Villa, in some ways, put the team on his back as he helped Martinsburg picked up wins Nos.
