    Red Raiders finish on positive note

    There haven't been too many smiles over the last few years when it comes to the Fitchburg High baseball team. It was only fitting that in his last game wearing a Red Raider uniform, Flowers had a smile on his face and went out a winner as Fitchburg finished its up-and-down season with a 7-3 triumph over Lunenburg Tuesday afternoon at Marshall Park.

    Baseball: Cunningham helps Rams down No. 7 Pirates

    Northbridge 4, Oxford 1 : Liam Cunningham threw a five-hitter with no earned runs and six strikeouts, and had a two-run homer to lift the visiting Rams over the No. 7 Pirates .

    Fitchburg gets first win in 11-inning thriller

    The Fitchburg High baseball team jumped around, hugged and tackled each other like a bunch of wild and crazy kids. When visiting Lunenburg misplayed a fly ball with two outs in the 11th inning, Kal Cavaco came flying around third base and scored the game-winning run as Fitchburg notched its first victory of the season, 7-6, over the Blue Knights Friday afternoon at Fitchburg High School.

    Neuhaus navigates NM to win

    A four-run second inning helped host North Middlesex Regional jump on top of visiting Fitchburg, then held on as the Red Raiders loaded the bases with one out in the top of the seventh en route to a 7-4 win at Schoppe Field Monday afternoon. The Patriots' win was desperately needed, and is their second straight after a massive shut out win over Quabbin to end last week: now 7-8 on the spring, NM needs to win three out of its last five, starting this evening at Leominster, in order to qualify for the postseason.

    North Middlesex holds on to top Fitchburg

    Red Raiders punch playoff ticket

    Qualifying for the Division 2 softball district tournament seemed like the light at the end of a never-ending tunnel for Fitchburg. For the first time since 2009, the Red Raiders clinched a district berth with a 10-0 shutout victory over North Middlesex Monday afternoon in Townsend.

    Breakout season for Fitchburg softball team

    The district tournament has been just a pipe dream since the last time the Red Raiders went dancing in 2009. These 2015 Red Raiders are well above the .500 mark at 8-5 and are only one victory away from clinching a tourney berth.
