Castaneda, a senior and a three-year starter, was a first-team All-Wesco 3A North selection last season and was named to the All-3A State Tournament second team. Castaneda shot 55 percent from the field and 59 percent from 3-point range as a junior and is the leading-returning scorer for the Eagles, who have made it to the state tournament the past three seasons. On a night of great defense for the Archbishop Murphy football team, the offense sputtered at times in the first half. Gurley, an explosive junior, returned a punt 59 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, and then tacked on touchdown runs of 31 and 56 yards in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats defeated host North Kitsap 27-0 on Saturday night in a Class 2A state quarterfinal game. Friday's night's football game between Black Hills and Archbishop Murphy in the first round of the 2A state tournament had the potential to be a great, but it turned out to be anything but.
