    Westminster Christian's Versluys soars over 2,000 mark

    About the last thing on Maddie Versluys' mind four years ago was scoring 2,000 career points for Westminster Christian's girls basketball team. With as turnaround finger roll shot from the lane with 16 seconds to play in the first quarter against Ottawa Marquette, Versluys became just the sixth girl in the Daily Herald's Fox Valley coverage area to eclipse the 2,000 mark .

    Glenbard North rolls to 16th straight regional title

    That reflected the collective countenance of the Glenbard North wrestling team as it entered the gym Saturday for the championship round of its Class 3A regional in Carol Stream. "He's a mastermind of the psychological stuff," Potter said of his North counterpart Bill Hahn, "so you could tell when those kids walked out of their backroom, they were ready to go."

    St. Charles North downs Elgin to snap skid

    St. Charles North boys basketball coach Tom Poulin saw some things he hadn't seen earlier in the season during Friday night's game against Elgin. Senior guard Mikey Schroeder led 4 players in double figures with 19 points to help lift the North Stars to a 72-66 Upstate Eight Conference River Division victory over the Maroons in St. Charles.

    St. Charles East topples Larkin

    The St. Charles East boys basketball team still has a pulse when it comes to the Upstate Eight River race, thanks to Friday's 59-52 win over frustrated Larkin in St. Charles. Senior guard J.T. Ford scored a career-best 21 points and senior guard Evan DiLeonardi added 11 points for the Saints, who used transition layups and a patient offense to shoot 60 percent from the field .

CHARLES – The St. Charles East boys basketball team kept its chances of an Upstate Eight Conference River Division title alive with a hard fought 59-52 victory over visiting Larkin on Friday night. Saints coach Pat Woods was happy with the win but thinks his team has left plenty of room for improvement.

    Christian Liberty pulls away from Elgin Academy

    Jasmine Marsh and Christian Liberty Academy started slowly but pulled away late. Marsh scored 11 of her game-high 17 points in the second half as the Chargers pulled away from Elgin Academy for a 34-19 nonconference girls basketball victory in Elgin Thursday.
