Shook, a former wrestler and graduate of Danbury High School, took the Hatters wrestling team to an 18-0 record and a FCIAC title - the high school's 29th title in 30 years. Shook has been the head coach since 2000, after joining the high school team as an assistant coach in 1989. Comment?

A new policy implemented by the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department , which is being enacted to supposedly protect the wear and tear of its new multi-million dollar turf athletic fields, could create some issues for the city's two high school baseball teams come the 2017 season. A new rule barring metal baseball cleats on the new field at Nathan Hale Middle School and at the new field being constructed this summer at Brien McMahon High School has raised eyebrows from others in the FCIAC. Comment?

Danbury High School girl's indoor track team coach Nick Fraticelli was named Coach of the Year by the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference, according to a release. In addition to Fraticelli's award, six Danbury High School coaches including Fraticelli were recognized as Coaches of Excellence: Rob Murray , the boy's cross country and boy's indoor track coach; Sean Colley , the boy's soccer coach, Ricky Shook , the wrestling coach; Casey Bock , the basketball coach; and Joann Tatarzycki, the cheerleading coach, the release said.
