    Blue Devils deliver sectional sweep

    Bremen's Noah Liles, back, wrestles against Zyshonne Holliman of East Laurens during the 182-pound championship match during the Class AA 'B' Sectional on Saturday. Liles would win the match by technical fall and was one of nine first-place finishers for the Blue Devils, as all 14 weight classes qualified for state.

    Nine Pace Knights Commit to College Athletics

    Philip Elliott , Mick Assaf , Jean-Luc Brown , Timothy Coleman , Brenner Appel , Grace Ferry , Jordan Harris , Spencer Hemmingway and Samuel Sloman . Brenner Appel , a National Honor Society member, has participated on the Pace varsity swim team for four years and has swum with the Dynamo Swim Club for eight.

    Four football players sign at Pacelli

    It was a big day for the Pacelli football program on Wednesday's national signing day as four players signed scholarships, two to Division I schools. A year after the Vikings broke an eight-year drought of Division-I signees , both DeAndre Bowman and Ben Davis doubled that number in 2016.

    Balanced attack leads Lady Braves over Bowdon

    The Lady Braves used a balanced offensive attack to down the Bowdon Red Devilettes 57-32 on the road Tuesday night. Coach Helen Akins' squad led almost wire-to-wire building a nine-point lead at the half before pulling away late for the 25-point victory.

    Bowdon ekes by Braves

    Bowdon's C.J. Brewer goes to the rack for two during the Red Devils' 48-45 region victory over Heard County on Tuesday night. Brewer posted a double-double on Senior Night with 13 points and 11 rebounds, including hitting two clutch free throws with 4.1 seconds left to help seal the win.

    Over 60 area athletes expected to sign on Wednesday

    A big class of recruits for the Class of 2016 will sign with their respective college destinations on Wednesday's national signing day, the first day a high school senior can sign a binding national letter of intent with the NCAA. More than 50 football players, including 17 headed to Division I schools, will make their commitments official at ceremonies spread throughout the day.

    The Heard High varsity basketball program paid homage to their senior athletes Friday night between the region games with Chattahoochee County Friday night in the school gymnasium. The three Lady Braves honored were Kemaiya Brewer, Jordan Watson and Madison Whitehead.

    James Sines, top, of Bowdon qualified for next Saturday's Class AA West Sectional with a third-place finish in the 170-pound weight class at the Area 2-AA Traditional Tournament on Friday night in Bremen. As a team, the Red Devils finished in third place with 98 points.
