    Lebanon trio join Reynolds at state

    Three more Lebanon athletes successfully qualified to join teammate Raheem Reynolds in this week's state meet during last Friday's Section 3 meet at Rossview. Once the clock was up and ticking, Lebanon freshman Ashley Grimes finished fourth in the girls' low hurdles in :49.89.

    LHS' Reynolds leaps into state meet

    Lebanon's Raheem Reynolds qualifies for the state track and field meet Wednesday at Rossview as assistant coach Freddie Hall looks on. Reynolds long the Section 3-AAA long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 1 1/5 inches.

    Spradley sparks Central, Franklin cools Rossview

    Ben Spradley opened the game with a home run and A.J. Franklin kept Rossview batters in check as Wilson Central advanced to the Region 5-AAA final with a 5-2 win Monday night. Spradley worked Rossview's pitcher deep into the count before sending his ninth pitch over the center-field wall for a 1-0 Wildcat lead.

    Shelby Woodard swings for a home run to lift Wilson ...

    An old baseball adage says the player who makes a big defensive play to end an inning usually leads off the next. After Shelby Woodard tagged out Clarksville's Shelby Copeland at the plate to end the top of the seventh inning, she led off the bottom half with a drive down the left-field line that had Wilson Central coach Mike Shepard doing his best Carlton Fisk impersonation to keep the ball fair.

    Lebanon sends five to sectional

    Lebanon will send five athletes to the Section 3-AAA meet today and tomorrow at Rossview after qualifying last Friday and Saturday at the sub-sectional. Raheem Reynolds qualified in two events.

    Lady - Cats threepeat with Eakes

    In a typical Wilson Central-Mt. Juliet game, Katie Eakes' two-run single in the top of the seventh inning was the difference in the Lady Wildcats' 2-0 win for their third straight District 9-AAA championship Friday night.

    Purple Tigers, Wildcats denied

    But Goodpasture came back to score a 6-1 victory and force the "if necessary" game in the District 8-A final. Singles by cousins Colin and Cameron Jennings and an RBI single by Robert Caruthers staked the Purple Tigers to a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

    Northwest Georgia Bank Sold To FirstBank

    FirstBank, the wholly owned subsidiary of First South Bancorp, Inc., and the third largest Tennessee-based bank, announced Friday the signing of a definitive agreement under which FirstBank will acquire Northwest Georgia Bank in Ringgold.
