    Sowa, with 22 points, led the Trojans to a 51-40 victory over Dundee-Crown in Fox Valley Conference action in Cary Friday night. "We had a really bad season last year and we were determined to start off the season fast," said Sowa.

    Boys basketball: Genoa-Kingston tops Dundee-Crown in...

    SYCAMORE – In a defensive battle in the paint, the Genoa-Kingston boys basketball team grinded out a 48-39 victory over Dundee-Crown in the second game for each team in the Leland G. Strombom Holiday Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Sycamore High School. Genoa-Kingston had its hands full on offense against the Chargers , who gave the Cogs a tough time, specifically in the paint.

    Dundee-Crown falls to Sycamore

    When the Chargers opened the previous year against Sycamore, the host of the Leland G. Strombom Holiday Tournament, the 46-point loss was the first of 11 straight. Fast forward to the 2016-17 opener and its hard to imagine Dundee-Crown's 47-34 loss Monday to Sycamore will be followed by a similar drought.

    South Elgin clamps down on McHenry

    Buyer beware: If the South Elgin's girls basketball team ever struggles on offense the rest of the season, don't count the Storm out to make up for it mightily on defense. The Storm showed one of the many ways it can beat teams this season during its 58-39 win over McHenry at the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament Friday night in Carpentersville.
