    When the fourth quarter clock showed zeroes and the scoreboard read "Seguin 28, Austin-LBJ 28" in Friday's regular season finale at Matador Stadium, the home crowd had hopes of the Mats duplicating their overtime magic from the Week 9 win over Dripping Springs. It wasn't in the cards as the Jaguars produced the only overtime touchdown and held Seguin scoreless in the extra session to win 35-28 and force a three-way tie for the District 12-5A-Division I championship.

    When: Friday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Where: Bob Shelton Stadium Last week: Westlake 70, Hays 14; Lake Travis 55, Del Valle 23 Last meeting : Lake Travis 60, Hays 34 Who wants to play Converse Judson the least? That question will be answered Friday as Hays and Lake Travis battle for playoff positioning, with the loser taking on Judson, currently ranked 3rd in Class 6A, in the first round of the postseason in two weeks. At the center of Friday's game is the Rebel defense and whether or not they can rebound and withstand another high-powered attack.

    A forceful Westlake Chaparrals aerial assault, anchored by the arm of quarterback Taylor Anderson, sunk the Hays Rebels in a 70-14 blowout loss Friday at Chaparrals Stadium. Hays couldn't stop Westlake's offense from inflicting damage early and often.

    Seguin's often referenced 2006 football season pops up in the conversation again this week, because tonight marks the first time since that storied campaign that the Matadors have played in a Week 9 game with district championship implications. Seguin and Dripping Springs battle for sole possession of first place in District 12-5A-Division I at Matador Stadium this evening, with each team looking to stay undefeated in district play.
