    25-year-old named as suspect...

    A 25-year-old man has been named as a suspect in connection with a New Orleans incident of a pickup-truck driver plowing into a crowd of parade spectators, which injured at least 28 people, police said. A police officer was among the injured, authorities said.

    West Georgia suffers series sweep to UNA

    The University of West Georgia baseball team got off to a rough start to Gulf South Conference play over the past two days. After dropping a doubleheader to North Alabama on Sunday at Cole Field in 7-1 and 5-4 decisions, the Wolves also fell in the series finale on Monday in a 16-10 slugfest for the sweep.

    The Bethlehem Christian Academy girls basketball team finished fourth in this week's GISA Region 1-AAA tournament, falling to Holy Spirit Prep on Friday, 52-38, in the consolation game at Loganville Christian. The Lady Knights will visit Region 2 champion Pinewood Christian Academy in the first round of the state playoffs at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Bellville.

    The University of West Georgia men's basketball team snapped its five-game losing skid courtesy of an 88-80 Gulf South Conference triumph over North Alabama on Thursday night at The Coliseum to tip-off a three-game homestand. The Wolves were powered by the 1-2 punch of seniors Steph Branch and Shannon Fowler, who combined for 57 points on 20-of-32 shooting.
