    Bayhawks to honor high school lacrosse teams

    Throughout April and May, Ben Rubeor balanced directing the St. Mary's High boys' lacrosse program with serving as a starting attackman for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The Baltimore native proved up to the challenge, leading the Saints to the MIAA A Conference championship while also ranking among Chesapeake's leading scorers through the six games that overlapped the prep campaign.

    Talent exposed in Bowie

    It's been just over a month since the 2015 spring high school season concluded, but many of Anne Arundel County's best rising seniors in baseball were on hand at Prince George's Stadium - home of the Bowie Baysox -- to provide a preview of what's to come next year. The Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches put on its fifth annual Futures Games Monday night.

    Glen Burnie man drowns in Edgewater

    Police received a call at 2 a.m. Saturday for a report of a swimmer who had been missing for about 10 minutes in Glebe Creek, near Oak Drive and Beach Drive. When officers arrived, they found several people pulling an unresponsive person out of the water, police said.

    Centrowitz part of world record in distance medley r...

    Americans Matt Centrowitz , Mike Berry , Erik Sowinski and Pat Casey broke the world record in the distance medley relay at the Armory Track Invitational on Saturday in New York, clocking 9 minutes, 19.93 seconds - more than six seconds faster than the previous mark, 9:25.97 set by the University of Texas in 2008. Ireland also ran under the world record, finishing in 9:25.37.
