Yes Thomas Hewitt is still alive... He is in a steel room with only a little window that can only be opened every now and htne... his little brother is in the room right across of him and the police and old pplz died in prison... Letherface and his little bro are in Redwood falls Minnesota... Which is really creapy because thats like 20 miles from where i live... and i didn't no this until a couple weeks ago.. its creapy cuz i use to play around in redwood! And whoever said he is locked up for 23 hrs a day with chains is absolutley right. He gets out an hr a day by himself with big chains on and he is one scarey looking s.o.b and he is the one they made the movies about.

It happened to their parents, uncle, cousin, or friends. That's their story.
With the October 6, 2006 release of movie #6, the prequel -- Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning it's not likely that the debate will end anytime soon.

A. The truth is, it's just a movie.
Perhaps it's the documentary or news-reel style intro of the 2003 version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre that has some people wondering if it really happened. Or, maybe they've heard that's it is based on or inspired by a real person. Whatever the reason, the myth persists that the events of the movies are more than just movie magic.

The Real Leatherface of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Thomas Hewitt AKA Leatherface is a fictional character. However, the Thomas Hewitt character was inspired by Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein, who never used a chain saw but did have a grotesque fascination with human body parts and liked to decorate his home with them as well as create masks and clothing with skin from his victims.
Inspired by is a far cry from true story. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is NOT a true story. It's not even based on a true story. It's a work of film fiction. It's a 1974 cult classic horror movie that spawned a series of sequels and remakes from 1984 to 2003.
That said, Texas is a big state and, sadly, we do have our share of serial killers, wackos, and dysfunctional families. Somewhere tucked away in the woods of East Texas or among the hills and small towns of Central Texas or up there in the Panhandle or out in the endless West Texas prairies there may be some crimes committed that remind people of some of the events depicted in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, but those are unrelated to the film.

oh and i lived in rusk most of my life until 4 years ago and thomas hewitt is not in rusk state hospital, i know this because i worked there and he is not in the rusk prison because it is 500 yards from the state hospital and rusk is a small town. everyone knows everyone and everyone would know if they had a movie star such as thomas hewitt(fictional character)or ed gein(the real person) in the system there. there are some pretty famous murders there but not leather face i assure you..... and ed gein is dead!!! he is not in mexico or rusk or anywhere for that matter. hes worm food....my advice, do your research before you start posting stuff trying to look smart cuz you end up looking real real real dumb..lol.
