Now what were you guys saying about a war on Christmas and infringements upon 'your' religious beliefs?
The Publisher pulled the Pink Bible because THEY didn't like the charity being associated with Planned Parenthood. There was no ban. There wasn't even pressure from anyone. They pulled the book for themselves.

Do you see why people think the 'War on Christmas' is a load of BS?

With me it will always be "Merry Christmas" not Happy Holidays. Where is all this PC crap coming from? What major harm is a nativity scene, even to non-believers? I don't care if they don't believe in God, someone please explain to me what is the PROBLEM?
WE need to remember Jesus every day if we are Christians. The problem is: Some man decided to try to make everyone believe that Christ was born on Dec. 25...which nobody KNOWS when HE was born and there is no scripture saying that we should make it a religious holiday. THAT IS A LIE THAT HAS SPREAD AROUND THE WORLD. Trees have NOTHING to do with religion any more than eggs have anything to do with a religious holiday. Santa Claus is a fairytale.Jesus os NOT! All of these "religious holidays" are manmade traditions, which the Bible says are NO-NOs. Looks like Americans will fall for anything!

Actually the evergreen was seen as the symbol of life surviving the cold dark winter. Oddly enough one of the founding reasons for the celebration of Yule, which was stolen to make Christmas. As for eggs, they are part of whole Spring/rebirth holiday that was devoted to the Goddess Easter (Eostre), which Christianity didn't even bother to change when they stole it as a conversion method.

Just read a repost on USA today about this and it seems like the company, which is Southern Baptist, pulled it because of their own conflict with P.P. Here is a quote from the article saying that.
"Though we have assurances that Komen's funds are used only for breast cancer screening and awareness, it is not in keeping with LifeWay's core values to have even an indirect relationship with Planned Parenthood," Rainer said in a statement."
So it appears it was a religious group "banning" their own book. Sounds like a "civil war" to me.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/religion/story/2...
They, the book company, received protest from religious drumbeaters concerning the Pink Bible. That is why the decision was made to pull the book from the bookshelves. Look for all the excuses you want but you guys have now joined the ranks of a select few in the world ..... a movement to ban the Bible. Other members of this select group which have tried are fundamentalists Islamics in middle-eastern countries ..... so be proud you guys are now at their level.

Also be proud you guys halted a book and funding that was to go for preventative breast cancer screening that saves lives. If any women that lives in poverty and receives screening only through these free services, and now gets cancer, I'm sure they will accept your excuses on why they are now going to have to have mastectomies, or worse ..... going to die.

Why? Because of hypocritically sanctimonious holier-than-thou religious drumbeaters that doesn't understand what Planned Parenthood really does ..... and wanted a Bible banned.

The war on Christmas? The religious drumbeaters are their own worse enemies and have done more to hurt religion than anyone else.

Merry Christmas. Help prevent breast cancer ..... ban sanctimonious drumbeaters.

'Stop selling the book or we boycott you' is a move to ban a book. It's censorship of something that saved lives. Of a Bible no less. Whether you like it or not ..... you guys are now doing exactly what fundamentalist Islamic drumbeaters have done in their countries. The fundamentalist Islamics think they are in the right, too, in what they do.

LifeWay President and CEO Thom Rainer made this written statement he mailed to the Christian Post,“When our leadership discovered the overwhelming concern that some of Komen's affiliates were giving funds to Planned Parenthood, we began the arduous process of withdrawing this Bible from the market.”

Btw, I know this forum, so in advance ..... putting little negative icons on my posts doesn't change that I'm right .....

You guys are the first in America to have the Bible pulled from stores. The first 'ever'. And at the same time cut funding to breast cancer preventative services.

Again ..... Merry Christmas ..... and don't forget to go to church on Christmas.

I just find it funny that it was Christians that did this to themselves. I know what P.P. is and what they actually do. I have no problem with them at all since I think that is a choice left to individuals.

But I agree with you, the reaction and demand being made will an impact on the funds being used to study and attempt to better treat/cure a horrible disease. I had a close family friend that died from Breast Cancer and always support funding for medical treatment/research.

I'm very sorry to hear that your friend died.

The odd part of this is that the Pink Bible was being sold for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. They could easily be called a pink ribbon Bible. Those pink ribbon stickers everyone sees on cars and in many states on their State licence plates (special 'breast cancer awareness' plates)..... those are the work of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Komen Foundation started the pink ribbon campaign. They, the pink ribbons, also are printed on breast cancer awareness t-shirts. The pink Bible is no different than the pink ribbons everyone sees everywhere. They were by the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

I bet a lot of the people yelling about the Pink Bible have the pink ribbon on their car window or bumper. When they bought the sticker or t-shirt most likely (if it is a genuine Komen Foundation ribbon) part of the money went to the same place ..... the Susan G. Komen Foundation where it was used to help fight breast cancer.

Stop lying, Jenny.

"LifeWay decided to recall the Bible after receiving complaints that some of the breast cancer charity's local affiliates donated funds to Planned Parenthood."

The complaints were ON THEIR END, by Christians. They did not want to give money to a charity that is associated with Planned Parenthood.

And your point is ..... what? To support my statement that religious zealots are the first in America to seek a ban on a Bible?

I'm back. No problem at all. I was wondering what you were getting at. Parts of your posts were saying things to back my posts while other parts at the same time were debating me. Again, no problem.

I'm a huge supporter of the pink ribbon campaign. Every time I see one of the ribbons on a car, in a store window, on a t-shirt, cap, or a pin, it reminds me that there are people out there fighting to help breast cancer victims. It also tells me the person in the car or wearing the ribbon cares about victims. And more important, it reminds me to have regular check-ups.

The 'only' people so far to oppose and fight against the pink ribbon (and pink Bible) campaign is religious drumbeaters. Everyone else knows it has saved the lives of thousands of women.

.....>grin<..... it is kinda funny you misunderstood me. I tried my best to be clear about my feelings when I called them 'hypocritically sanctimonious holier-than-thou religious drumbeaters'. But I was very polite when I said that. Now want to hear my feelings about Holiness churches saying a woman must wear our hair long and dress in long skirts? I usually end with comparing it to an American burka.

Now there is a comparison I have never seen made but is very fitting.

Those are my favorite people next to the ones that say the husband is the head of the household and I should obey him. Running a close third is the 'I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence' believers.

My favorite are the "picky" ones. Pick this or pick that to harp against but ignore everything around it that might defeat or derail there private little crusade.

If those so called christians really read their bible, they'd see that there is no commandment, strong suggestion or even a hint that we should celebrate Christmas. Christmas is a celebration of lights which is a pagan holiday. Lord knows we already have enough lights on outside. Big waste of electric. Personally I like the stars .... especially when they don't twinkle. Sharper images through the telescope.
