Zimmerman has former convictions of violence against him. He went looking for trouble, where there was none. His dad's a judge...he got off on a former felony with a plea bargain, which would have banned him from possessing a gun....daddy's a judge....police looked the other way...it was race based. If the kid was white wearing khakis and a polo shirt, Zimmerman wouldn't have paid any attention to him....he already decided to go against dispatcher's orders to remain in the car....he was a ticking time bomb. He beat his girlfriend...he had violence in his character....not the kind of guy who should have been 'designing' neighborhood watches, and certainly not the kind of guy the police department should have kissed up to. He wanted to be a hero....he's narcissistic...else he wouldn't be trying so hard to get someone to notice him. Looks like he got his wish...but he should be arrested. And for gawds sakes, take that gun away from him!

he shot to death a black kid wearing a hoodie....because he considered that 'suspicious'...if that's not racist, what is?
it's like saying: a rapist declares a woman deserved to be raped because of what she was wearing....in this guy's little pea brain, he believes killing someone is justified because he LOOKED suspicious....the problem is, Zimmerman's eyewear...no one else would think a kid in a hoodie is necessarily 'suspicious'....only in the mind of a narcissistic paranoid gun toting Barney Fife...he's just the kind of guy police departments are clamoring to recruit, I'm sure!

Zimmerman followed him, confronted him, scared him. If Trayvon then "stood his ground", it was obviously provoked by all of the above.

There is always three sides to the story, his, his, and somewhere in between the truth. One is dead and the other not talking much.
Need more info before can really judge the situation overall but I will say on the surface so far it seems a shame this 17 year old died.

A rush to judgment in the court of public opinion doesn't serve justice. For every item that shows Zimmerman guilty of a crime is another item that shows that he may have in fact acted in self-defense. Let's let the cops do their jobs and investigate. Once the investigation is complete and all the facts and details are released, then people are free to judge.

He doesn't have convictions of violence, he was charged with resisting arrest without violence and that was later expunged. He was charged with a domestic dispute but never convicted.

Just read earlier today on CNN and MSNBC that a 13yo witness reported seeing Martin knock Zimmerman down and wail on him. Still not enough for me to justify him being shot.
Martin was 6 foot three and 160 pounds and Zimmerman 5 foot 6 and 250 pounds so there was at least a height differenace.
Martin was also living with his father due being recently expelled from his school in another city for drug posession. Was found with a marijuana baggie that still had some residue of marijuana in it.
Zimmerman was bleeding from the nose and the back of the head and was treated at the scene then taken to police station, questioned, and released as everything was in line with his story. Not sure I still buy it and all but as more comes out it seems like Martin was not the little 17yo angel initially portrayed.

Grow up, I carry a handgun. come over and knock me down and slam my head in the ground and you will be laying right beside Trayvon. I am sure it was not handled properly, but in the end he had to protect himself.

I feel bad for the family but who really cares except those trying to stoke racial tensions of their own benefit.
It is turning out though that Martin was not some little do good kid, he has been expelled 3 times from school for fighting, once for drugs, and moved to another town to live with his father because of his most recent expulsion from school and his mom having no control over him.

By definition, if you switched the races of the 2 parties involved, The black individual would have been jailed after shooting someone he was following. If you are man enough to wear a gun, then you need to be man enough to face murder charges when you screw up and kill someone because you just had to bring a gun to a skittles fight.

And even with everything you say, I would still convict Zimmerman for murder for what he did. You simply can't have guys carry guns, mess up and kill people on the streets and then have no consequences for their decisions.

You should not be able to pick a fight with someone, and then when you start to lose the fight, pull out a gun and kill them.
That's about as yella as you can get and breaks about every honor or man code ever written.

It is not about race. Reverse discrimination needs to stop and the equality fight made in places it really should be hanging those people of both races by their toes for hate crimes.

The white guys in Oklahoma. Sting em up

The multiple incidents of blacks beating white tourists from other countries just cause they were white and in the wrong place - String em up

Problem is by turing this into a black v white race issue does no one any good as there is nothing to show it is.

If it is a hate crime from either side, it needs to be treated as such. The law in Florida should probably change and Zimmerman should probably be charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, for which he will probably not be convicted because of the law and evidence.

Tired of it being looked at as multiple wrongs make any one person right. Rodney King could have pulled over and got a ticket. He ran and fought and got beat. Neither is right, but why did he get a lottery of cash and many other carriers ruined, including two BLACK cops involved. Sorry, they all should have paid a price for that.

I never let my kids use color to describe another person to me. I firmly believe the words of Martin Luther King that we judge individuals on character, not color. We can't even judge anyone on their character.

Both of these young men were wrong. If Zimmerman were arrested and put in the general population, he would be killed as well. Groups have a bounty on his head, and there is nothing said about that in Washington, only the mis-carrige of justice.

Where were these same people when OJ killed his ex-wife and a guy who just happened to be at the wrong place and with the wrong person. They all said let justice take its course.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE!
