My question is, if a majority of immigrants pay the same taxes as individuals then why aren't they intitled to the same services as average citizens. That's like buying something in Winfield and not getting what you bought because you are from Dodson.

we are a nation of law. The law says you have to come to America legally to live here. It does not say you have to come to come to winnfield legally to buy something here. DUH

They know they are here illegally. They know they have no entitlements. They are lucky they aren't getting deported, which is exactly what should be happening to the lot of them. I have nothing against immigrants. I have a huge problem with illegals! I have no problem with Mexicans or Cubans. I have a huge problem with illegals!

My child has dealt with this before. Getting to sit and notI advance in the class because the non english speaking children can't be left behind. Illegal immigration is slowing our children's education. The illegal's parents only care about sending money back home.

I don't see why not. We spend billions of dollars to "Set up a Democracy" in other countries while getting bombed and killing others.

A child is a child, it don't matter where they're from. Letting these man made boundaries define your morality is a mistake. If the Canadians want to have an education here well that's okay, they're still humans. I know they talk funny and bring in scores of contraband but it's really cold up there. I wouldn't want to stay.

If my family was starving I'd go to where I could feed them and try to be prosperous. No river, mountain, swamp or national borderline would stop me. Then I'd put my children in school. If there were Canadians in the crowd well so be it.

Good points. Children, irregardless of ethnic origin & by moral right, entitled to an education.

Kids ain't to blame. Immigrants, as all of us including you, happen to be unless you are of American Indian descent, can't be blamed either for wanting a better way of life. Trouble is, our government does not enforce the laws it should and enforces laws that shouldn't be. Nothing against "legal" immigration, at all. For it. But against illegals and against our government for getting into senseless wars abroad when we have wars on our own soil we don't fight, i. e. poverty, education underfunding, law enforcement underfunding, etc.

Send them back to their own country, build their own schools and teach their own. I'd like my tax dollars to pay for our own needy children and we have plenty enough of our own problems without spending our money on the illegals that could care less about our children as long as their problems are fixed (paid for, tax free!)

From what I have seen of the education being given to our kids today - I would rather see my tax dollars go to something useful. Have you heard the saying "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink"? Well that is the status of education today. In the past 25 years it has gone downhill. The kids are there because the law says they have to be. But, you can't make them learn if they don't want to.

And what of "No child left behind"? Well the ones that don't want to learn hold up the ones that do, hence holding up their education too. How many high school students today can read classic literature and actually comprehend what they have read.

So, you don't want our tax dollars to support immigrant education? I don't want our tax dollars to support education. I think it could be used for better things. Or perhaps, use it for education but the students have to pass a test just to be in school. Then they have the chance to get a real education instead of just being babysat all day. The kids who don't want to be there just wouldn't pass the test and my tax dollars won't have to pay for his teachers, his books and his lunch.

Wow Trib, I generally like your posts, but you sound like someone that has a cup half empty.“I don't want our tax dollars to support education” is rather telling of where your priorities are. Educating children (regardless of where they were born) is a better use of tax dollars then giving money to some foreign country that hates us and resents us. If we can afford to give tax breaks to ExxonMobil while they make billions in profit, then we can afford to educate the next generation. You know we did away with admissions test to public schools for a reason - Jim Crow ring a bell? Just because someone’s parents were uneducated doesn’t mean their children should be. Everyone deserves a chance at an education regardless of their social status.

I’m a taxpayer too, and I say learn to speak English, por favor!

aw bumblefoot...I just hate seeing our tax dollars pissed away for people who don't want an education. Everything is so hard on everyone right now kids need to be taught appreciation. They get to go to school because we pay for it. But, they are not taught to appreciate the education they are given for free. But instead of being thankful they just expect it to be given and they ask for more. I have seen kids at the high school that can barely read. How did they get that far? I guess, that I don't begrudge any child that wants an education to get one. If you don't want it, though, don't expect me to pay for it.
