So I cross the border into Mexico illegally with my children. Guess what? No public education for my children, and I wind up in a nasty jail and get tortured before getting deported. My kids might just get deported directly back to the U. S., if they are lucky, otherwise they get what I got.

Let the Mexicans provide for their own, not the U. S. taxpayers. It's only just fair.

It is the 14th Amendment that protects young illegal immigrants. Since slavery, people who claim to care about human rights, and believe that they are not racists continue to deny people who have less than they do the right to an education just because of the color of their skin. A Texas statute denying free public education to illegal aliens violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, because discrimination on the basis of immigration status did not further a substantial state interest. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed.

Can't we add a sentence to the 14th amendment?-- This amendment only applies to people who are in the United States legally. Our debt is a problem and we need to take care of our citizens first. The current immigration policy is unfair to those who followed the rules and studied hard to become citizens.

The 14th Amendment has nothing to do with "ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION" but it sure has been twisted around to apply to any situation!

I agree that we will be in jail if we do not have the proper documentation in almost any foreign country. The problem is that these people are here now. We could go door to door searching for illegals like the Nazis did looking for Jews. As long as the illegals that are here don't cause trouble, I think we should show some compassion and let them stay. The federal government needs to develop a policy on this matter, or turn it over to each state to decide. In any event, the rules/amendments that permit the children of illegals to automatically receive US citizens need to be changed. US citizens should not provide medicare or medicaid or social security benefits to people who are in this country illegally. If we decide to permit the illegals to stay, they have to be able to make it on their own financially.

The problem is they don't do it on there own. It is the taxpayers that are providing all the freebies!

If you break the law, you should be prosecuted.

No way I want my taxes supporting a bunch of criminals.

If you entered the country illegally then you are a criminal and should be deported. Period.

Go through the correct process to enter our country, and you can then reap the benefits. If you do not, you taking opportunities from the people (your own fellow countrymen included) that obey the law.

At least get a work visa, it's not that difficult.

That is why we are a better country than Mexico, and why Mexicans want to come here. I don't have any kids, yet my taxes are going to educate other peoples kids. That's not fair to me, but I don't mind. In fact, since I don't have kids, my taxes can go to educating the children of illegal immigrants. To me, that is fair.
