As a democrat I love the choice! It basically ensures that Obama will win. So the Ryan plan is to destroy medicare and social security. That should go over well with senior citizens who vote at the highest rate! This choice makes Sarah Palin look good.

Destroy Medicare and SS? He wants to save it! The Dems want continue to bury their heads in the sand and continue with business as usual, while both programs will run out of money in 20 years.

The best part of this choice is that it truly uderscores the difference between Democrats and Republicans. If you are a millionaire and vote in your best interests you should certainly vote Romney/Ryan. If you are a 1%er it makes total sense. I just don't think the 1%ers can convince the poor and middle class to vote against their best interests, as happened with the shrub Bush. But you never know, it is clear that 50% of the country is comprised of embarrassingly stupid rednecks who keeping clinging to th guns and religion, and don't look after their best interests.

I chuckle when I look at the two of them together. This has to be the "whitest" ticket in history in a time when the country is racially and socially evolving. It is a last gasp of conservatism that just might ensure a white male is never elected president in this country again. Latina voters have been further disenfranchised from the GOP and after Hillary wins two terms in 2016 the most likely candidates for the forseeable future will be Latina. Going to make all these white guys with small penses and big guns really nervous.

Well Mit had to take a chance with the choice because he is so far behind in the polls and knows the election is probably lost. Much like McCain had to do. The media outlets need to make it appear close to continue getting viewership.

Actualy I am a white guy. Just an admittedly embarrassed one when I look at the policies of Romney/Ryan.

Easily solvable. Simply eliniate the cap on the millionaires and billionaires and make them pay social security levels not capped at $110,000. Doing so would infuse so much money into the system, create a more fair tax bases and ensure the solidity of medicare and social security forever. And it would impact 1% of the US that has gamed the system to their advantage for so many years.

It isn't even close. The guy is actually doing worse then McCain did at this point. He can't even go to London and talk about the Olympics without embarrassing himself and the GOP. Imagine when the topic is important.

The pick smacks of desperation for Romney. For the last five months Romney has been criticizing Obama's economic leadership. But in most national polls Romney has yet to eclipse 50% and he still trails Obama in many critical battleground state polls. Now Romney is trying a new narrative -- the Ryan plan to reduce a deficit at the expense of middle-class families and senior citizens.

Just keep pounding home the fact that Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney want to dismantle the New Deal and turn Medicare into a capped voucher program. Up until this point, Obama was having trouble connecting with blue-collar voters. I suspect that will dissipate once they see the alternative.

Ryan is not running for President, so his plan is irrelevant, even though Dems will have no compunctions about lying and leading dimwitted people astray. Romney has already stated he has his own plan and it's NOT the Ryan plan. Was Obama elected because of Biden's "plan"? Did anybody NOT vote for Obama because of Biden's "plan"?

That being said, you may be right. Choosing Ryan is a gutsy move, but I'm not sure it will swing enough Independents and he may end up losing the important Florida vote. When it comes down to it, I'm afraid people don't want to sacrifice to get the economy back on track. They'll vote to keep the gravy train going and will believe the fairy tales spun by Obama & Co. No one wants to face the truth that we're headed toward a cliff.

By "people," I assume you're referring to poor and middle class people? Romney certainly won't ask for anyone "above" that to sacrifice...

If we do nothing, like you and most Dems want, there will be nothing left for anyone in 20 years!
By 2030, there will 80,000,000 baby boomers on SS and Medicare. The retirement age has to be raised just to fund them!

That's the Dem party line and main talking point to take the focus off 4 years of utter failure on the economy. Where's the proof?

What's been proven is the ineptness and deceit of the Obama WH. The country is no better off than when he took office despite running the debt up to $16,000,000,000,000. Nothing to show for it and we should give him ANOTHER four years to bankrupt the country? How will THAT help the poor and middle class? The rich will do just fine - they won't lose their jobs, their homes, and their pensions.

so, Paul Ryan wrote/cosponsored a bill that would make EVERY abortion (including rape and incest, hormonal birth control, and invitro-fertilization. That should go over well with women.

I beg of conservatives, pleace keep voting on social issues and putting forth these policies. It virtally ensures they will never win.
