There are foster homes that are accused of milking the system, too.
Lower the rates to a flat tax and eliminate all of the deductions, exemptions, incentives, exclusions, rebates... The practical problem with that is that as soon as you lower the rates the good ol' boy bought-and-paid-for politicians will preserve certain deductions regardless.
Some foster homes are families that take in children just for the monetary gain. Greed is not a good reason to take the additional responsibility and many times the quality of care is reflected in the behavior of the children.

Precisely. Taking the children away from families that can't afford them ...? Simple sounding solution and another plague of problems with "the nanny state".

I'm not going to belabor this. Clearly your liberal mind is already made up. I will say this: I don't think my life is tough. It was when we were young and struggling, but that's WHY we struggled and sacrificed, so that we could have a comfortable and happy life. Everyone in this country has the same opportunities that we did, and the same opportunities that our kids have. That unemployed carpenter could be taking night classes toward a degree and a better, more stable career. Second, if you want to get me on a soapbox, keep denigrating the education that nurses work so hard to obtain. I have many more than 3 years of post-high school education and paid out of pocket for every one of them. I suggest you find out something about nursing education before you shoot your mouth off about "3 years and a guaranteed job". I'm not sure there are even any 3 year schools left in the country. Nursing is not what you think it is, and quite frankly, I doubt you could successfully complete a nursing degree. Third and finally, there is NO evidence that handout programs for ANYONE have any benefit to society as a whole. Allowing parents to abdicate their responsibility to feed and care for their children by feeding them at school is just another touchy-feely crap idea that serves no one but the lazy assed parents who had kids they couldn't afford. Hand-out health care is a disaster and will be more so if the Healthcare Destruction Act is allowed to stand. However, I'm not too worried. I believe that Romney/Ryan will be elected in November and the whole Obamacare nightmare will go away. Business in health care will go on as usual and the last four years of socialism and irresponsible spending will be nothing more than a vision in the rear view mirror.
Riddle me this:

Why would someone with so little compassion, become a nurse? You seem a much better fit in some prosecutorial position. Perhaps even, executioner...

Simple: Take away the automatic entitlements. Some people will think twice if they know the Nanny State won't be there to subsidize their poor judgement.

No they wont.

You wrongly assume those folks have an agenda.

If you really want to solve the problem in the long run, you'd focus on education.

But you don't want to spend that money either; as if the elimination of either expenditure would ever find its way back to you...

Something we can agree on........sort of. I think it is disgusting that churches and other "not-for-profits" can have huge amounts of assets and not pay taxes. On the other hand, if we make them pay taxes, we are inviting them to be even MORE intrusive into government. If churches did their jobs and took care of the poor, the handout programs would never need to exist.
How much more intrusive could the get?

Ironically, these right wing Christians forsake their fellow man while worshiping an imaginary entity that preached against the very act.

Our whole condition is truly comical.

I'm an idiot, and I can see that...

With all due respect, Hans, you don't know me. I have a great deal of compassion for those who deserve it. People who have six kids and a minimum wage job? What's to be compassionate about? They make bad choices and then expect those of us who made good choices to financially support them. People who choose not to get an education and work at crap jobs with no insurance? Again, bad choices, and not the taxpayer's responsibility to give them our money. I see the full spectrum of humanity in my job. I see the people who wouldn't put their hand out to the taxpayers if they were starving, and I see the people who wouldn't work for a living for any reason, and I see all the people in between. What I've seen more and more of over the years is the people who believe that they are somehow owed something simply because they exist. People who have never earned anything, and have no intention of earning anything. Their attitude is "you have more than I do so you should give me some of it", and that is exactly where our government is headed with BHO's "redistribution of wealth" crap. Neither my husband or I came from big money. Our parents were working class people who saved and sacrificed and worked hard every day so that we could have easier lives than they did. We've done the same for our children and because they've been taught those values, they'll do the same for their own kids. We give generously to charities that we deem to be deserving. We volunteer our time and our professional services to those we deem to be deserving. THAT'S what charity is supposed to be, not money taken without your permission from your hard-earned paycheck and "redistributed" to those who choose not to succeed. We've also taken care of our own parents. Both my husband's mother and my father died here, in our home, with hospice. I took unpaid leaves to provide physical care for both of them. When the time comes we will do the same for his dad and my mom. My compassion is reserved for those who are in circumstances not of their own making. The vast majority of people receiving handouts from the taxpayers have made their own bed, but they don't want to lay in it. They want us to give them a better bed. I believe that to be just plain wrong.
With the same due respect, and clearly your path in life is to be admired; your posts show otherwise on the compassion thing.

...Very Good.....Romney is also a disciple of Lobbyist, Grover Norquist....Imagine a Presidential Candidate, cutting a deal(pledge) with an outside, unelected, unappointed lobbyist...a pledge, guarenteeing not to raise any taxes, regardless of the effect on the american economy....How can he claim, to a willingness to seek solutions, in a nonpartisan manner, knowing all along, he has made a deal with the devil?.....Why would anyone support, someone that serves too many masters?

The problem is not obama or mitt. You can pick either one. They will fix nothing. The problem is we were used to a US economy dictating things for the world, now it's a World economy screwing us up.

World Buyers about 3 billion+

US buyers about 170 million

The US companies have chosen to go overseas for those markets. Not obama or romney can fix this.

Even if we cut out the entire US market, they (companies) will still make money on those 3000 million people overseas or outside the US.

Obama has done nothing to influence or chanhe this, he's simply not that smart. Romney has participated in sedning jobs overseas, but is b no means the guy who started it.

Learn to compete with overseas manufacturing or learn to live in a f----d up economy.

Well, let's just list O's accomplishments. Maybe we can find some middle ground...
Golfed over 100 times in his first term. GWB golfed 28 in 8 years.
Stimulus Program an abysmal failure, except for the obvious graft that made owners of companies like Solyndra rich.
Unemployment through the roof.
Continuing the conflicts overseas despite his promise to withdraw troops.
Managing to offend some of our staunchest allies.
Kowtowing to other world leaders.
Disintegrating perception of America around the world.
Burgeoning welfare and food stamp rolls.
Soaring fuel prices because he has blocked every legitimate effort to become more oil independent.
Excerbating race relations with idiotic remarks about Trayvon Martin.
Exacerbating race relations by holding a 'Beer Summit'
Highly questionable SS number.
Exacerbating race relations with Biden's 'Chains' speech.
Record number of taxpayer funded 'vacations'.
Eating a snow cone on the beach during a tour to observe the BP oil spill.
Michelle had a tug-of-war match with Jimmy Fallon.
Has aptly earned the moniker 'President Telepromter'.
Obamacare, which will cost the middle class more money and destroy more jobs.
No president is perfect, but his absolute elitist mentality offends those of of who work hard every day just to see more and more of our money funneled off to subsidize those who haven't worked a day in their lives.
Kudos for this post2

Oct. 14, 2012 One question that definitely should be asked of Mitt Romney, the GOP candidate for President at the Tuesday Presidential debate is why does his company (for which he receives dividends and profits) continue to offshore jobs to China?

This is happening in real time, as moving trucks are now showing up under police protection to pick up the equipment for the Sensata China corporation.

This campaign is in the likeability stage and short of a major foreign policy calamity (GOP prays for) nothing is going to erode the likeability of President Obama. On the other hand Mr. Romney is attempting to use the tragedy in Libya for political gain, which could further erode his likeability, as he is seen as using the death of four fellow Americans in an attack on a popular sitting president.
Mr. Romney has already lost the benefit of his debate dump, for much the same reason; he is neither believable nor likeable. Poll Tracker shows the president with a comfortable +2.5 lead after having fallen behind by as much last week. The president is enjoying a well-deserved Biden bump this week. Biden’s finest moments in the debate were when he looked at the camera and asserted – these people are going to screw with you.
As for Mr. Romney, his best hope is in pumping more money into TV ads that pump out lies about the president. It’s sad to say, but the only way Mr. Romney can win is use the GOP message machine to pump out lies and hope the ill-informed voter will believe them.
Some of my favorite lies:
Gubmnt takeover of health care, when the Insurance companies are the clear winner.
The debt – The GOP claims Obama spent more money that all the presidents combined, yet fail to acknowledge that today’s spending bills come out of a GOP owned House.
As long as Mr. Romney cannot make an honest case for why President Obama should not be re-elected – he has little to fear.

China is our partner dammit! Don't you see? I'm for jobs. The president isn't. With our partner, china, we will create 12 million jobs. Just doesn't tell you where. In china.

I'm not impressed. Going back and forth. This guy worries me more than he makes me feel good.

Stop the primate BS. If he was a white guy would you be calling him the Albino primate?

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get more than you bargained for.
