The Artist will win.

Melancholia should win, but it's not nominated.

Runners up should be The Sunset Limited, and Take Shelter.

All better than any movie in the nominee's list.

The Artist looks like a snooze fest...I hate the Oscars, it's so phony... but thanks for the info on the other films, I loaded them on my player, watching Take Shelter right now, it’s pretty damn good!

I've been enjoying your music!

So the artist won. It was ok, I didn't hate it, but definitely wasn't the best picture of the year.

There for about 4 years the Oscars were being pretty cool and giving the award to very deserving movies. It started with Crash, and then The Departed, No Country for Old Men, and Slumdog Millionaire winning were also pretty awesome. Then The Hurt Locker won and I was like ok... that really didn't deserve it. Then when The King's Speech beat Black Swan and The Social Network last year it became very clear that the Oscars were going back to the format of the most obvious generic picture winning.

Glad you've been digging the music. I think the new album is a lot more focused than the previous one, a lot darker, and a bit more mature. I worked very hard on it.

Also yeah, Take Shelter was amazing. The ending I found to be very open to interpretation *spoiler* I think he was still dreaming. The Sunset Limited has some of the greatest crafting of language I've ever seen, and Melancholia was just beautiful.

Also some other amazing movies that were snubbed by the Oscars this year:

The Woman
Red State
Attack the Block
Drive

I really liked “Take Shelter”, fell asleep watching “The Sunset Limited”, I could tell that it was worth watching. I immediately picked up on the casting inspirations, the dynamic between Jules and Vincent is very similar to that of Gus and Woodrow. I really appreciate your film recommendations, I will watch them all.

The Sunset Limited is by Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men, The Road.) I thought it was pretty great, but it is VERY wordy and takes some patience. You need to be in the mood for it, that's for sure.

Melancholia is nothing like anything I've ever seen. I've seen some of Lars Von Trier's previous work (Anti-Christ, The Idiots) and he's definitely an artist, not just a filmmaker.

The Woman is by Jack Ketchum, who is probably my current favorite author. The movie is dead on with the book (probably because Ketchum wrote the screeenplay too). It's a very original piece of horror. Something that will probably be mimicked for a long time to come.

Red State is from Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma) and is his first non comedy. It's actually very serious, and very disturbing in parts. Definitely his best work to date. I wouldn't call it horror. I'd say it's somewhere between a drama, a thriller, and an action movie.

Attack the block is just fun. I haven't seen one person who disliked it.

I can talk about good movies all day. So I'm going to stop here.

Just watched Red State, and I thought it to be a masterpiece. It may be a gritty drama, and thriller, but it's also very funny in parts. That old preacher was like a cross between Jerry Garcia and Charles Manson!

His... what... 12 minute monologue? I thought was amazing. I loved how they let you really get to know the bad guys... really HUMANIZED them... made the action scenes so much more emotional. John Goodman and Michael Parks (The Preacher) not getting Oscar nominations is just highway robbery. Those were the performances of a lifetime.
