first spill in over 25 years of drilling. American Companies have several checks and balances along with state inspections in place and they DO NOT SHORT CUT THE PROCESS. I am a retired Safety Petroleum Exxon Engineer and never had a spill over water that we could not contain and clean up before any damabe could be caused.

Dear John is nothing more than a Exxon/Moron suck boy! He loves to wave the flag while eleven of his co-workers die for his lie.
Exxon/Moron was #2 last year on money spent lobbying congress for big oil. The US. Chamber of Congress came in at # 1 with over 150 million while lobbying for Big Oil. Maybe they should have spent a little more paying the Exxon/Moron safety people to not do thier jobs!
Anyone who tries to compare this event to a plane crash removes all doubt about thier ignorance.

You don,t like offshore drilling then sell your car, grow your own food and make everything else you would buy at the store. Fact is Obama sucks as a leader and could have done much more, much faster then he did. Drill all over the country and build nuclear power plants. At this time green energy is a pipe dream. Big oil bad, bad. Give me a freaking break.

Hold on Hot Shot! I love gas engines. Matter of fact I got a 38ft. Fly Bridge Sportfisher sitting in Port Royal with two 454`s that love fuel. I love cheap gas but the problem is I`m not willing to ask you nor your children or my children or anyone else to risk their life and limbs so Big Oil can enjoy record profits and I can enjoy a boat. Big Oil ownes all of us and runs the show...Other wise we would have turned the corner with alternative fuels 30yrs. ago when were told what was comming. As far as Nuclear goes...We have the largest nuclear reactor in the solar system right above our heads, it`s call the sun and they say it`s good for another (6) million yrs. at least.
No Big Boy...I`m not for stopping the drilling but I am for doing it as safely as possible and making sure that we can clean-up after ourselves when something does go wrong.
I also would like to see the oil producing states put an export tax on all oil going to coastal states who dont allow offshore drilling. If you want a freaking break, start lobbying your state SC.)to allow offshore drilling and make your own mess.
The state of Fla.(where my boat would normally be) would like a freaking break too. Sorry to tell you Hot Shot...The only break any of us are gonna get is when we break our addiction to oil and tell the MidEast to eat that oil!

Yes Mr. Snyder I have a offshore fishing boat too. I guess we should only buy from small oil companies, that don't make money? HUH. I do support drilling off SC. By the way dont let guys call me "Big Boy or Hot Shot" it turns me on. BTW why would you have 454 gas motors in a 38' boat? That sucks! Have a great day there Big GUY!

DO A LITTLE RESERCH ON THE AMOUNT OF LAND IS REQUIRED FOR GREEN ENERGY TO PRODUCE AS MUCH AS ONE NUCLEAR PLANT! YOU MIGHT BE SHOCKED. THIS INCLUDES BIO FUELS, WIND, SOLAR ECT. ELECTRIC CARS HAVE TO BE CHARGED. THEY HAVE TO USE BATTERIES WHICH REQUIRES MINING. REMEMBER BACK IN THE 90S WHEN ALL YOU HEARD ABOUT WAS THE HOLE IN THE OZONE LAYER. THEY BANNED R12 FREON IN CARS AND TAXED THE HELL OUT OF IT. THEN YEARS LATER THEY FIND OUT THE HOLE SHOULD BE THERE. NOW THEY BANNED R22 FREON IN HOMES BECAUSE ITS A GREENHOUSE GAS, SAME BS. WAKE UP. THE GOVERMENT WOULD LOVE TO TAKE OVER OIL & GAS. EXXON MADE SOMETHINK LIKE 1 CENT PER GALLON THEY SOLD. HOW MUCH IS THE GOV. GETTING. WAKE UP.

to the original poster :

youre a moron.

books are your friend.

as far as China, they are far far far ahead of us on green energy.

with your thinking, they always will be... and eventually i guess we can just buy clean energy from them because people like you are so short sighted and have no clue on the subject you attemp to speak about. good day.

Time we continue on the change that was vanboozled 30-40 years ago. We must kick our addiction to oil and it's products that can be made with 'friendlier' sources. Save and conserve oil for future generations, not exploit it for the I WANT IT NOW greedy and self serving generation.

It all starts at home.

wanna check out my pond? it's just offshore on the LA coastline. Bring your Haz-mat suit and geiger counter though if you come visit.

It rolled out of the factory with 454`s and I caint afford 20 grand each for a re-power! Yes they suck..Suck lots of gas...But they run great, top out around 28knots and when you consider the fuel savings and the fact I dont need a diesel mechanic to work on her against the cost of a repower with 2 diesel`s it just dont make good economic dollar`s & cents. Had over 4,800 hrs. on the last set of 454`s and rebuilt for under $3.500 including install.
Gonna have to hit the lottery before I can afford diesel`s I guess.

I can relate! Tip, check out if there are any test programs with any diesel manufactures in the future. My buddy got one heck of a deal doing that. The way some of these people are talking on these differant forums we might end up with blow boats (sailboats). Catch em up!

If you lived in any of the gulf coast states you would not want anymore drilling out there! We are still fighting the pollution and god help us for the damage we have caused mother earth!

Oil drilling platforms are headed to CUBA this week. If they have an incident, do you really think they will pay for a cleanup or just let the east coast and the gulf wallow in crude?
