No I do not, nor have I ever, supported off-shore drilling.
The use of fossil fuels is becoming history-no longer used-in other countries who have surpassed the USA in alternative energy. The only reason we here in the US have not joined these other countries in actually doing vs just talking about the use of alternative energy sources is the top wealthiest have much invested in the oil industry, and they are not willing to let go of their cash cow (oil)even if it means destroying the entire planet.(ie: greed)
The use of fossil fuel should have been history here long ago if indeed the US was
the leader, the shining example of a free country with free enterprize.
Our Federal gov. employees have their money invested in blind trusts; they have money managers who invest for them, but they are not privy to where exactly their money is being invested. However much of their invested money is in pharmaceuticals, oil companies, and health care. Yes folks, healthcare is purely a business, and like all businesses they are strickly out to make money off of us-healthy or ill.
This unstopable volcano-like oil leak is going to actually make them money. It will effect our health, our food supply, our environment, fish and animals, and yes, even jobs. Those who used to fish for a living will now be in the clean-up business. They will have a job for life; as will their children and grandchildren, and even their great-grandchildren.
I voted for Obama. I really believed in him, that he would do as he promised in regards to off-shore drilling. In truth he did just the opposite. He gave the oil companies the green light and they drilled like gangbusters before he could change his mind, by drilling too fast and too deep with causion to the wind. The result is this catastrophy.

Lorilee, what would you fuel trains, airplanes, ambulances, trucks, cars, ships with? You have some magic replacement that should have been available "long ago"? What is it?
Do you have some sort of conspiracy theory wherein the oil companies own such technology but would rather sell oil?(Instead of making gazillions selling this new, clean, safe invention you think there could have been)?
We all hope there will someday be an invention of a clean fuel that will provide the massive amount of energy it takes for a productive, healthy society to thrive, but there isn't anything yet and we can't shut everything down.
Ironically, the technology you used to post your message takes a lot of energy, a lot in the form of oil, to produce the computer you typed on, provide the energy to run it and the network it travels on. You aren't going to get that reliably from wind or solar.... Nuclear could be a good option for the electrical energy (clean French reactors), but that's not going to power everything it takes to ship product.
Oh, by the way, do you have any 401Ks or other investments....that perhaps have some money invested in the evil greedy oil companies (that employ tens of thousands of people)?
