The Shocking Truth About Unemployment In America In One Chart

The mainstream media is not telling you the truth about unemployment in the United States. The percentage of working age Americans that are employed is not increasing.

In March 2010, 58.5 percent of all working age Americans had a job. In March 2012, 58.5 percent of all working age Americans had a job.

So if the employment rate is exactly the same as it was two years ago, then how in the world can the Obama administration claim that things have gotten significantly better since then?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the official unemployment rate in the United States was 9.8 percent in March 2010 and it declined to 8.2 percent in March 2012. So how is this possible if the percentage of working age Americans that have jobs hasn't moved?

Well, what they do is they claim that there are millions upon millions of Americans that have "left the labor force". In other words, they claim that there are millions upon millions of unemployed Americans that don't want jobs anymore.

Of course that is a total farce, but the mainstream media and most Americans are buying it. They actually believe that the unemployment rate is going down. But the truth is that the unemployment crisis in America has not subsided.

In fact, we are pretty much exactly where we were two years ago, and things are about to get a whole lot worse.

GENERAL MOTORS, GENERAL ELECTRIC: GUILTY OF ECONOMIC TREASON?

By Marilyn M. Barnewall
July 15, 2012
NewsWithViews.com

You, like me, may be tired of the presidential political ads – from both sides. The one that is fingernails on a blackboard for me is Barack Obama’s accusations that Mitt Romney has been for sending jobs to China. This entire television ad is a lie – and at its end the familiar voice of the man known as President Obama that tells me he approves the lies.

It was Barack Obama who gave TARP money to General Motors (which now builds 70 percent of its cars in China) and it was Barack Obama who appointed Jeffrey Immelt, General Electric CEO, his Chairman of the Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Mr. Obama evidently didn’t realize Immelt was so stupid he needed to explain he meant American, not Chinese, jobs. Immelt calls China “GE’s second home.” I think Americans should make China GE’s only home.

It is Barack Hussein Obama, not Mitt Romney, who had the nerve to make this television ad about sending jobs to China when two men who belong to Obama – GM’s Dan Akerson and GE’s Immelt – are sending jobs to China so fast my head is spinning!

AN OPEN LETTER TO DAN AKERSON, CEO, GENERAL MOTORS

In a 2011 speech in Shanghai, China,(listen to the speech here) just three years after General Motors and Chrysler received $80 billion from U.S. taxpayers to prevent both companies from failing, you, Mr. Akerson, said the following:

“Almost 7 out of every 10 cars we make are made outside the United States.” So, after accepting the “largesse” of the American people to save your poorly-run, unionized, lousy company, you moved 70 percent of cars built to China… taking jobs away from American citizens who will long be paying for the stupidity of General Motors management decisions over many years. Any American who doesn’t understand that unreasonable labor demands are COSTING rather than providing jobs is too dumb to vote!

Your Shanghai speech, Mr. Akerson, left no doubt that General Motors is now China Motors. You are shrinking your U.S. operations while increasing your Chinese business. You also said:

In my opinion the scenario had never been so worse than it has become now. the Obama govt has increased the debt and unemployment is increasing day by day. one thing suddenly came to my mind when i was about to do posting .....
The Obama administration's agenda has been to increase the price of gas, operating under the assumption that this would be a good thing. Remember what energy Secretary Steven Chu said:“Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the
price of gasoline to the levels in Europe”.

This is a joke, right??

When Obama took office......Gas prices averaged somewhere around two dollars. Food prices were lower. There were fewer people on government assistance.

The following are 70 facts that Barack Obama does not want you to see....

$3.59 - When Barack Obama entered the White House, the average price of a gallon of gasoline was $1.85. Today, it is $3.59.

22 - It is hard to believe, but today the poverty rate for children living in the United States is a whopping 22 percent.

23 - According to U.S. Representative Betty Sutton, an average of 23 manufacturing facilities permanently shut down in the United States every single day during 2010.

30 - Back in 2007, about 10 percent of all unemployed Americans had been out of work for 52 weeks or longer. Today, that number is above 30 percent.

32 - The amount of money that the federal government gives directly to Americans has increased by 32 percent since Barack Obama entered the White House.

35 - U.S. housing prices are now down a total of 35 percent from the peak of the housing bubble.

40 - The official U.S. unemployment rate has been above 8 percent for 40 months in a row.

42 - According to one survey, 42 percent of all American workers are currently living paycheck to paycheck.

48 - Shockingly, at this point 48 percent of all Americans are either considered to be "low income" or are living in poverty.

49 - Today, an astounding 49.1 percent of all Americans live in a home where at least one person receives benefits from the government.

53 - Last year, an astounding 53 percent of all U.S. college graduates under the age of 25 were either unemployed or underemployed.

60 - According to a recent Gallup poll, only 60 percent of all Americans say that they have enough money to live comfortably.

61 - At this point the Federal Reserve is essentially monetizing much of the U.S. national debt. For example, the Federal Reserve bought up approximately 61 percent of all government debt issued by the U.S. Treasury Department during 2011.

63 - One recent survey found that 63 percent of all Americans believe that the U.S. economic model is broken.

71 - Today, 71 percent of all small business owners believe that the U.S. economy is still in a recession.

80 - Americans buy 80 percent of the pain pills sold on the entire globe each year.

81 - Credit card debt among Americans in the 25 to 34 year old age bracket has risen by 81 percent since 1989.

85 - 85 percent of all artificial Christmas trees are made in China.

NUMBERS DON'T LIE: THE REAL OBAMANOMICS

Unemployment, jobs numbers, pay, home ownership raise alarms

Published: 2 hours ago

Here’s a breakdown:

When Obama entered office in January 2009, total nonfarm payroll employment stood at 133.56 million, according to the Labor Department. Last month it totaled 133.30 million – a net decrease of more than 260,000 jobs. Considering the recession ended more than three years ago, any employment shortfall is unusual; but economists call the Obama jobs gap downright shocking.

In 2009, real median household income was $52,195, according to the Census Bureau’s annual survey. Last year it dropped to $50,054 – the lowest level since 1989. When it comes to pay raises, those Americans who are working aren’t just running in place, they’re going backwards – by decades.

When Obama stepped into the Oval Office in January 2009, consumer confidence was 61.2 percent. In August, the index stood at 60.6 percent. At this point in a recovery, economists say confidence should be soaring. But consumers remain unusually glum about the economic outlook.

In January 2009, the jobless rate was 7.8 percent. Last month, unemployment stood at an even higher 8.1 percent, marking the 43rd consecutive month above 8 percent – the longest stretch since the Depression.

In Obama’s first year in office, the share of impoverished Americans stood at 14.3 percent, the Census says. In 2011, the poverty rate climbed to 15.0 percent – the highest in almost two decades. The share of African-Americans in poverty was nearly double that level.

In January 2009, the federal budget gap was reported to be $485 billion

Last month the deficit increased $191 billion to $1.16 trillion – topping
$1 trillion for the fourth straight year. At 10 percent of the economy, it’s the highest level of red ink since WWII.

Consider the following:

There are 12 million more Americans on food stamps since Obama’s recovery started.
The total number on food stamps – 46 million – is the highest on record.

More than 1 million workers have joined Social Security’s disability rolls over the last three years.

Black teen unemployment, now at 37 percent, is near Depression-era highs.

The share of Americans who’ve been out of work a long time – now roughly 40 percent of the unemployed – is the highest since the Depression.

The proportion of the civilian working-age population that is actually working, now at 58 percent, is the smallest since the Carter era.
3 in 10 young adults can’t find jobs and are living with their parents – the highest level since the 1950s, according to Pew Research Center.

54 percent of bachelor’s degree-holders under the age of 25 – aka Generation O:
the age cohort who voted for Obama – are jobless or underemployed, the highest share in decades, according to Northeastern University.

Total government dependency – defined as the share of Americans receiving one or more federal benefit payments, now at 47 percent – is the highest level in American history.
he national homeownership rate, now at 65 percent, is the lowest in 15 years.

The 30-point gap between black and white Americans who own their own homes is the widest in two decades and one of the widest chasms on record, Census data show.

OBAMA NEEDS TO PACK HIS BAGS?

By Dr. Laurie Roth
October 19, 2012
NewsWithViews.com

Every debate so far, Heir Obama has thrown out numbers to give the impression to all that he has created millions of jobs and improved our economic situation. It is all him and all good, though he needs more time to unfold his plan. No doubt because he inherited such a nightmare from President Bush.

In truth, our housing market is as bad as the Great depression, our economy has been mostly stuck in a recession the last 4 years under Obama’s out of control spending and regulation attacks on business and energy. Recent headlines on Drudge remind us that for every $7 brought in the Obama Government spends $11. Welfare has soared 32% in the last 4 years and Obama is still babbling in the debates about the importance of wind power and alternative energy. This is as he and his EPA close down dozens of coal plants, deny the Canadian oil pipeline and crush the oil and natural gas industry with draconian and expensive regulations designed to control and destroy not enhance and grow energy.

Under Obama, jobs, housing, energy, freedom, money and hope are disappearing. What we really have with this President is a legacy of ‘regulation, destruction, assault, lies, propaganda and betrayals. It appears many groups are starting to wake up, hopefully in time. Obama is not the change they wanted or asked for and Obama has done nothing but broken endless promises to all. Hispanics have confronted Obama on Univision and know they have been betrayed by him starting with Fast and Furious guns killing hundreds of Mexicans, let alone our Border Patrol agents. Women are coming awake and shifting toward Romney while Independents and liberal Jews are also going Romney’s direction. When Obama decided to change his mind on marriage and backed gay marriage, he started to lose chunks of the black vote. As of today, a Gallup poll says Romney 52%- Obama 45%.

When you lie as a daily staple eventually there will be too many lies to cover with sound bite theatre. That is exactly what we are seeing with Obama, too many lies when there are still no real jobs and homes are still being foreclosed on. Gas is tipping over $4 a gallon. Gas was $1.80 something when Obama took office and there is zero progress toward energy independence and assistance to the oil industry. Instead, Obama is stuck on continual stupid Ville with speeches on wind power and alternative bio fuel. Does he think people are going to go out with barely a job and buy a 30,000 hybrid or electric car? Perhaps he thinks we will make are cars drive to work with ‘kite’ power pushing a breeze here and there.

I predict a new day is coming for America November 6th. Obama has awakened the sleeping giant and he will be escorted out by Romney. Obama’s people are waiting for him in Kenya.

75 Economic Numbers From 2012 That Are Almost Too Crazy To Believe

Michael Snyder
Economic Collapse
December 21, 2012

The following are 50 economic numbers from 2012 that are almost too crazy to believe…

#1 In December 2008, 31.6 million Americans were on food stamps. Today, a new all-time record of 47.7 million Americans are on food stamps. That number has increased by more than 50 percent over the past four years, and yet the mainstream media still has the gall to insist that “things are getting better”.

#2 Back in the 1970s, about one out of every 50 Americans was on food stamps. Today, about one out of every 6.5 Americans is on food stamps.

#3 According to one calculation, the number of Americans on food stamps now exceeds the combined populations of “Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.”

#4 According to one recent survey, 55 percent of all Americans have received money from a safety net program run by the federal government at some point in their lives.

#5 For the first time ever, more than a million public school students in the United States are homeless. That number has risen by 57 percent since the 2006-2007 school year.

#6 Median household income in the U.S. has fallen for four consecutive years. Overall, it has declined by over $4000 during that time span.

#7 Families that have a head of household under the age of 30 have a poverty rate of 37 percent.

#8 The percentage of working age Americans with a job has been under 59 percent for 39 months in a row.

#9 In September 2009, during the depths of the last economic crisis, 58.7 percent of all working age Americans were employed. In November 2012, 58.7 percent of all working age Americans were employed. It is more then 3 years later, and we are in the exact same place.

#10 When you total up all working age Americans that do not have a job in America today, it comes to more than 100 million.

#11 According to one recent survey, 55 percent of all small business owners in America “say they would not start a business today given what they know now and in the current environment.”

#12 The number of jobs at new small businesses continues to decline. According to economist Tim Kane, the following is how the decline in the number of startup jobs per 1000 Americans breaks down by presidential administration…
Bush Sr.: 11.3
Clinton: 11.2
Bush Jr.: 10.8
Obama: 7.8
