If you objectively analyze the economic numbers, the economy is better. Private sector jobs have been increasing and the unemployment rate is dropping. However, wages continue to be stagnant. So the recovery does not feel any better.

Whoever the next president is, they will probably continue to cater to wall street and the military industrial complex just like the rest of the federal government. You probably wont see a reinstatement of the Glass-Steagall act even though its totally obvious its needed. The average public cant grasp the concept.

We will continue to spend enormous sums on multiple aircraft carriers, floating drone bases, and other overseas bases. But at least there is now a glimmer of realization that special ops will be the new way the military will operate that should cost less than outright invasions and cold war weapons. But the US likes to feel in control and carry big sticks.

Unless there is a democratic majority in the house, you wont see any return to the upper tax rates required to pay for the military. Even that is no guarantee. So congress will continue to play politics with the debt which will continue to make the economy jittery. Republicans will continue to blame entitlement spending even though all those dollars stay in the US economy.

Now that china is allowing their currency to float a little, there is some glimmer of hope that the US might begin to recover from the trade deficit and begin to recover jobs. The factors contributing to the trade deficit is actually our number one problem. Obama is the only one really making any mention of it, proposing limited moves, although indirectly.

If Obama takes a "hit" because of high gasoline prices, does he get any "credit" for cheap natural gas prices?
