this is very true and few understand the real costs...I oppose it on a cultural and financial basis...I'm finally understanding what Obama wants to do with the US...and it's not good...Socially, this issue is complicated. Just to many point of views. Fact is, making the move to legalize this in a strong economy would have been possible, but in a poor economy it would be a huge burden on social programs designed to help couples. Survivors benifits, spouse benifits from health insurers, and tax exemptions for couples would be finacially overwealming for our country. Health issurance, federal and state income taxes, along with social security costs would all increase. The issue would also redifine marriage and make room for paligomists to make a case for multiple unions for federal recognition also, thus creating even more of a financial burden on us all. Even if you love the gay community, you still need to consider everything at risk. If liberals wanted this to pass they should have went for it when Clinton was in office.
