I live about 2 miles from the Marina & was upset after reading about the nuclear plant being built there, but then it sounds kind of fishy. I kept thinking, it can't be. it must be April Fool. But if it's indeed happening, I am moving out of state.

I currently live here! The first I even heard of this was in the San Leandro Times. Are you kidding! You people are opposed to a marijuana grow house but support nuclear power. You turned down $5M in revenue to the city so others could widen their own pockets. Is that right? If not, then why would anyone even consider the risk? Did I miss the voting of the San Leandro people? We get earthquakes too or are you not paying attention to the poor people of Japan and what's going to happen in the Pacific Ocean now..... To anyone who supports this - I don't trust your word. You've already been proven wrong.

Nuclear power plants make stunningly easy targets for airborne terrorists.

A funny thing happened to me on my way to the pebble bed reactor dispute, I was waylaid by my local newspaper’s sense of humor. The headline read ‘Nuclear Power Coming to San Leandro’ and then it went on to be explained by the Acme Nuclear Power Company’s spokeswoman April Fulzh(April Fools) how the Marina waters provided the perfect cooling system for the plant’s nuclear fuel and how that if there ever were an accident the Marina could supply an endless amount of water . The joke went even further by the newspaper stating that a vial of plutonium would be given to all residents that attended the celebration of the agreement.
My only problem is that I went for it hook line and sinker and wrote a rather scathing opinion on the subject being blinded by my emotions concerning the subject. It’s hell to laugh and cringe at the same time. It’s tough being fool of the month. Thank you San Leandro Times for posting the article I will always remember as one of the funniest days of my life.
Dave, they got me too! Not funny. But definitely will go down as the day that someone was able to FOOL me.

All that wasted blood pressure over nothing.

For energy plants, there are other, better alternatives than nuclear. But San Leandro City management are for profit only. They raised sale taxes for highest 10%. They spend money only on projects that bring them profit. They disregard many ordinary people interests. The new mayor, Cassidy, though, is good. I wish him success.

More efficient power and cleaner the battery run cars

It is much cleaner than any other form.
The waste can be safely stored. The risk is much lower with modern reactors. If you look at the big picture, over the lifetime of a nuclear plant vs a coal-fired plant, more people will be injured by the pollutants from the coal-fired plant.

Beyond RETARDED!!!! And so are the "Sheeple" who believe it's what's best for us. I bet they also think those countless strange white lines, enormous X's and Tic-Tac-Toe patterns that stay in a blue sky for hours until the skies are totally gray, is harmless fumes from planes. And Alameda Naval Base, along with 4 other places in the Bay Area, are really new schools to keep our children safe. Guess that's why the military has been training in Alameda. Thank goodness they decided not to construct camps to detain US citizens who refuse to be scared, mindless slaves. or owe $$$. Oh and Berkeley does't have one of the largest magnets in the world, which combined with H.A.R.P creates MAN-MADE earthquakes etc. These are just a few things that are happening in our OWN backyards!!!
It's time to WAKE UP EVERYONE, while we have the choice to do so. Talk is cheap, and soon could get you arrested! It's "We The People, For The People, By The People!!!" NOT 1 "Person!" ALL OF US!
The majority of humanity is morally good, and intelligent. We ALL know what's
right, and important, Especially for the future of our children!
This affects EVERY SINGLE HUMAN ON EARTH! Each one of US needs to Stand Up and BELIEVE in OURSELVES!
If ALL of US Unite and Stand Together, for what is RIGHT, through Love, Positve Thoughts and Actions, FOR and BY GOOD PEOPLE, as a "Collective One"
I KNOW, without a doubt! ALL darkness WILL be OVERCOME by the POWER and LIGHT of ALL that is Good on Earth!!!
Good ALWAYS wins, and we've been promised, "HEAVEN On Earth!
I, for one, am ready for our promise to be fullfilled, are YOU?
Spread The WORD, and KNOW!...Better Days ARE on the way!!! Peace, Love, Happiness and Parties!!!
I Love you ALL, so much, and I have faith in US. So It Is So It Shall Be.
