It's a stupid debate. Nobody is going to cut back on electricity consumption. They will talk about it forever and do nothing. They will really bitch if the lights go off. Nobody wants wind or solar either. Those ideas are stupid too.

Just build the damn things and live with the risks.

Nevada--bet on nuclear facilities. They are safe if regulated and if they use current technology. Remember, the earthquake didn't damage the facilities in Japan, the tsunami did.

An oxymoron. If it was affordable, efficient and actually worked it would have happened a long long long time ago.

you should check your facts about wind and solar power, the windis free, the sun dosent charge anything to use it,its the gov. and big business that want to monoplize it..and the tech is there.its the big start up cost.. if we spent the money we are spending in the worthless arab countrys, every american could have it.

At night, solar = zero.
No wind, wind = zero

The problem is on demand, reliable 24/7 power. Solar, wind ain't that. They tried wind in Hawaii when I lived there. It was abandoned. Now the Koohuku Mountains are littered with abandoned wind towers. They geothermal too. Didn't work.

Once again, if that stuff really worked and was eceonomically feasible, the free market would have made it work by now. Even with all of obama green subsidies, it's still not there.

Oh, and try to build a wind farm in the liberal northeast.

Solar???? hah!!! Solar can never deliver the load that Americans and American manufacturing needs to run the businesses. Maybe at a house with reduced voltage to 12v like a motor home, but you have to have something on cloudy days for backup.... Nice idea but no real plans for implementation.

Batteries (?) Yea, they work real well in cars don't they. A peppermill? How about LA. Generators? run them with what?

OK, blame big oil. That's an old pat liberal excuse.

obama was on TV the other day saying nuclear is fine, at least no greenhouse gas.

Many countries in Europe are successfully using wind, solar and thermal power. As for the argument no solar at night, duh then the power grid kicks in.

So, build a duplicate power generation system? Imagine what your power bill will look like. That's a great answer. Wind and solar, how much environmental havoc will that reek? How much resource torn from the ground? Other environmental issues to discovered the hard way.

Es muy peligroso tener plantas nucleares, el precio que se paga es muy alto, como por ejemplo lo que sucede en Japon.
