67,000 tons of hot waste already sitting in two rivers, it will be hot 100,000 years from now, its insane to generate electricity by heating water with this incredible filth

Domino and Storm Warning are both right. The feds are setting aside $50 billion to encourage investment in nuclear plants that will take 10 years to make the first electron for the ratepayers, 25 years to make a heavily taxpayer subsidized profit and make the taxpayers of the future pay disaster (NO insurance costs/coverage) and cleanup costs when the plant is unusable in 40 years. So take that $50B and give each $1B for a program to get as many living units as possible (owner or renter) up to new building standards in insulation and weatherization. You will have a return in 2 years that will produce fossil and nuke avoidance for 40 years without another nickel in fuel or maintenance.
