It is simply harmless. They need to be worried about much bigger things than the supposed gateway drug. What a joke.

Since they made herbal incense illegal as of yesterday at 3:15 pm, they really should consider legalization of marijuana. While I agree that the synthetic herbal incense do pose health risks, i don't see how during a time when our economy is already struggling, why take something off the market that is taxable?? Marijuana could be taxable and would definitely help get a multitude of would be "criminals" out of jails and out of tax payers pockets. Show me the evidence of people dying from smoking marijuana. NOT from accidents related to marijuana consumption, but death from actually smoking it. I have yet to see any such research. WIth the removal of the "fake marijuana" from stores, the government is going to definitely be looking to bust "pot dealers" again. This is a lose lose situation in my opinion. Just legalize it. gah

there is no scientific evidence to support that marijuana can cause death if inhaled. While people can drink alcohol and die everyday, American's are not afforded the liberty of choosing what substances we put into our bodies. Again, no one has died from the direct inhilation of marijuana smoke. Alcohol and tobacco as well as many other dangerous narcotics kill people everyday.

There needs to be an organized and directly democratical vote on the legal status of this plant.

I don't think it should be legal for minors anymore than alcohol should be. BUT I do think that Adults deserve the freedom to decide for themselves whether they want to use marijuana or not. Just as they are allowed to decide to use Alcohol or not. BOTH effect the mental capacity of the user though many would argue alcohol is more likely to make one violent or angry. Marijuana more often makes one sleepy and relaxed. It also assists with pain management for some. I truly see no rational for keeping marijuana illegal while allowing alcohol to be legal. Government learned that they could not legislate the use of alcohol (other than make it available only to adults) and the same is clearly true for Marijuana. Take the crime out of marijuana use. Too many jails and courts are full of marijuana law breakers instead of dealing with real criminals.

A well made documentary about the hypocracy of illegalizing marijuana. As with most things, it was done for the benefit of industry. Over the years, many myths have taken root (no pun intended) and they have misled a lot of well meaning people. Get informed and be open minded and I believe you will see it is less harmful than alcohol which is of course legal.

Why should I explain anything? I have epilepsy , numorous head fractures and two holes in the top of my head thanks to some $@&;:$@ drunk driver , smoking marijuana helps keep myself normal, without the use of man made medicines that may kill me or retard parts of me, come on people time to wake up.

It all comes down to doing your own research about the research. Here is a link to 10 studies about the benefits of marijuana use. These are mostly government subsidized studies that aimed to deter use because of hypothesized negative effects. The opposite was true in all studies, and the government didn't care to go public.

We have 6 box turtles. It started off with my now 22 yr old son bringing them home. Then my extended family would bring them to us as a rescue. 4 years ago, I added 2 sulcata toroises to my clan ot people, turtles, tortoises, and dogs. Bob & Tinkerbell (sulcatas) mow our backyard in the Spring/Summer, and Henry, Addison, Red, Paul, Tres', & Woody (turtles) eat all our garden scrap. We live in harmony and amazement at times. I joke to the kids about the sisters & brothers they will inherit when I pass. All of us have met & gotten our pictures taken with Santa, and it amazed Santa when he watched Bob (sulcata) come to me when I said his name. It sickens me to think that anyone would be so cruel to hurt these defenseless creatures.

Marijuana is not "harmless", it is helpful. We waste valuable money putting people in jail for simple possession charges when they are not doing anything wrong. Educate and Regulate!

Well, if smoking nicotine products and drinking alcohol is legal then how bad could weed be by comparison?

In a 2010 report by the Common Sense for Drug Policy Organization, the American annual causes of death were classified under the following categories:

Tobacco Related 430,700
Alcohol Related 110,640
Prescription Drugs 32,000
Suicide 30,575
Homicide 18,272
Drug Induced Deaths 16,926
NSAIDís (such as Aspirin) 7,600
Marijuana 0 deaths

Before you start to wonder about the veracity of the figures above, you should be aware that no one has ever been officially declared dead from direct or indirect marijuana consumption.
